VAA Decades Officer Elections

We have 3 roles remaining open on the VAA leadership team for 2024. 

• Decades Officer 2000's

• Decades Officer 2010's

• Decades Officer 2020's

Voting starts on February 21st and ends on March  6th at 5:00pm PT. The new Officers will be announced on the official Facebook page on March 7th.  The winners will be notified before the announcement. Terms of office will start  March 7th 2024 and last until the next scheduled annual election with a prorated 2024.

Welcome to the Newest VMAPA Screening & Selection Committee (SASC) Member

 We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our newest VMAPA SASC member, Annette Navarro.  Annette is a long-time member of the Vanguard family, starting with her time as a marching member in the 1980’s, through her volunteer work on Miss Amana and many other Vanguard ventures.  In addition to performing with, and volunteering for the organization, Annette was also employed as the Business Operation Manager and Merchandise Manager from 2009-2018.  Suffice it to say, Annette has been a devoted supporter of the Vanguard organization for decades.

In addition to Annette’s appointment to the SASC, George Brown has agreed to continue as a committee member, taking on a new six-year term, following an abbreviated initial term of 2 years. We are excited to have George continue his position and look forward to working with him.

We thought you might be interested in knowing who is on the 2024 Screening and Selection Committee. The members are:

Decades Project Videos Released for The Threes Years

The Vanguard Historical Society recently published a round of Decades Project videos telling the stories of Vanguard’s first DCI championship in 1973, pushing boundaries in 1983 Vanguard, the beginning of a new chapter with 1993 SCV, and the design process behind the layered and intense 2013 Vanguard Cadets show. More videos from the Threes years are coming soon.

We are also kicking off videos for the years ending in 4. If you have any photos or recordings for these years or any others, please upload it here. And if you’re interested in helping with the videos, let us know on the interest form.

Green Feather Jazz Society New Season

Hello All. 

   The Green Feather Jazz Society is back for its second season! We wanted to thank you all for your patronage and support for our premiere season in 2023. It was absolutely an exciting year for us. This year we are working on several dates for performances and will keep you all apprised of them as the dates solidify. We are currently working on a social event that will be outdoors toward the end of April. We will know in the next few days if this will become a reality.

 Some dates we’re working on…
 

• April- Outside social event free concert
• May 9th- West Valley College Spring Jazz Concert. We will be sharing the evening with the West Valley Big Band. (This event is official. More info to come) 

 As most of you know, we are local and are committed to increasing the community footprint of the Vanguard Music and Performing Arts. With your support and patronage our goal is to create a larger interest in the fine arts in the South Bay area. We would appreciate any help! So, let us know if you would like to see us perform at area events or venues. If you are affiliated with any high schools or colleges in the area, we would love to perform for events like fundraising.

    We hope to make our second year more successful in terms of community outreach. We also intend to make our “gigs” as fun for you as it is for us! Below is a link to become a member of our FB page so we can keep you informed of what we’re up to. See you all soon.
