Keener was known by everyone for her beautiful smile and her kind and caring nature.
UGA to construct new residence hall
The University of Georgia will build a new 565-bed residence hall for first-year students to address student housing capacity needs associated with recent enrollment increases and to support future growth.
The new residence hall, which was approved by the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia, will be located on South Lumpkin Street near the intersection of West Wray Street. The proposal approved by the board also includes plans to construct a new dining, learning and wellness center at the intersection of University Court and East Cloverhurst Avenue.
UGA enhances residential belonging initiatives
As part of ongoing efforts to foster a sense of belonging for its students, the Division of Student Affairs is launching Residential Belonging Assistants (RBAs), an enhancement of University Housing’s long-standing student mentoring, support and inclusion efforts, and an expansion of the C.L.A.S.S. Advocates (CA) program. The RBA position is currently posted on UGA Human Resources’ job listing.
“Student Affairs and University Housing have long offered effective programming to support students’ personal and academic growth,” says Linda Kasper, Executive Director of University Housing. “Our residents will continue to have advocates and mentors dedicated to bringing them into the UGA family, and we continue to strive to support the unique needs and goals of UGA students.”

UGA strengthens its ongoing commitment to public safety
As part of its ongoing, exhaustive effort to continually promote campus safety, the University of Georgia recently announced several additional measures—totaling more than $7.3 million—to further strengthen campus security on campus.
“The protection of our students, faculty and staff at the University of Georgia is always top of mind for me and our senior administration, and we are continually evaluating our safety programs,” said President Jere W. Morehead. “This morning, I met with campus law enforcement officials to learn their recommendations for further enhancements. Every one of their recommendations was approved.”
Signature Lecture Series draws prominent speakers to campus

The UGA Mentor Program, the University's first comprehensive mentorship initiative, is a digital platform which allows students to form mentoring relationships and/or schedule 15-30 minute Quick Chats (formerly known as informational interviews) with UGA Mentors (faculty, staff, and alumni), regardless of geographic location, who can help make their future a little clearer.
Mentorship is proven to help students succeed in their personal, academic, and professional endeavors. With our busy schedules, it can be hard to know where to start, but just 1-2 hours a month can change the trajectory of a students life.
Our personalized mentoring experience allows you to connect with students no matter your location and on your schedule. If you’re not sure where to start, there are guidelines, icebreakers, and other resources on this site to guide you along the way.
