The birds are getting us out of bed again in the mornings with their song. Perhaps the sparrows are also chirping from the rooftops that our IDZ member event on 21 March will take us to motion and sound designer Alexander Wodrich in Berlin-Kreuzberg. We cordially invite you to join us!

If you would like to apply for the highest state award for ecological design, you can still participate in the German Ecodesign Award until mid-April. We only announced the new winners of the UX Design Awards last Friday, and the next season is already starting—the call for the UX Design Awards—Autumn 2024 is open until 31 May!

We wish you an excellent start to spring!

Alexander Wodrich
Motion Design & Audio Branding

On 21 March, Alexander Wodrich, Managing Director of the agency why do birds, invites you to join him. He will provide insights into the world of motion design and motion branding and explain why these disciplines are becoming increasingly important for brand communication. How do brands present themselves “on-brand” in the fast-moving social media jungle, and what tools are there to ensure a consistent presence?

As moving images are rarely managed without sound, the interface with sound will also be addressed. Look forward to excellent audio examples!

Berlin Design Innovation Challenge 2024
Award for IDZ Berlin

Photo: Greta Maria Asgeirsdottir

With our concept “Future-proof through sustainable design – eco-design in theory and practice,” we were successful in this year’s Project Future competition organized by the Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises. The award ceremony by Senator for Economic Affairs Franziska Giffey at the end of February was an excellent opportunity to discuss the potential of design with the Senator, the jury, and the other six winners and to present all the projects in person.

We are delighted with the recognition. We will use the prize money to organize a series of seminars and workshops for knowledge transfer and ecodesign community building in Berlin in the fall. More information to follow!

New projects

For c.fischer interior designers, a new project always means understanding the client’s needs and harmonizing them with the budget, construction processes, and design. For example, the Federal Foundation for Gender Equality involved a lot of color. Structural and design interventions refresh the Business & Management Library at TU Berlin. And in an apartment in Berlin Mitte, everyone likes to gather in the new kitchen.

The temporary bauhaus-archiv
Otti Berger exhibition

In the 1930s, textile designer Otti Berger created fabrics for modernist architecture that still fascinate today. Her designs combine aesthetics, function, and technical innovation impressively and fundamentally changed our understanding of what textiles can be and achieve. In the exhibition, which runs from 15 March to 24 August, an installation by Judith Raum brings Otti Berger’s work to life for the senses. A new video work can be seen alongside two large-format wall fabrics that have been elaborately rewoven especially for the exhibition.

Dear IDZ members: Send us your news – we will happily publish it here!
