Last Chance for Auction Tickets!
Like spring, our 2024 Gardner Auction is approaching fast! The activities are shaping up to be fun and engaging, and the weather forecast couldn't be nicer for an evening of charcuterie and drinks under our big tent and an entertaining round of classes before our art auction in the Great Room.
This event is our key annual fundraiser, with an Art Auction, paddle raise, and raffle geared towards bringing in critical operating funds for the present and future of Gardner School! Funds raised during this festive evening go towards facilities upgrades, new equipment, curriculum and teacher support, and new items for our classrooms and play areas.
As a small non-profit, we could not do what we do every day for our students without the support of our families, sponsors, and the larger community. Tickets to the Auction are still available online, as are sponsorship opportunities. Hope to see you on Saturday at 5pm for a wonderful evening!

Gardner Market Proceeds Delivered to Vancouver Bee Project
|
|
|
On Friday, March 8th, students had the opportunity to give back to a local non-profit at their Community Meeting. After our very successful Gardner Market, we informed the Vancouver Bee Project that they were the recipients of our philanthropic fundraising. They were surprised and pleased, and representatives came to Gardner to meet our students, talk a little about the importance of pollinators and what bees do for us, and to receive their check in the amount of $1898.40!
Before saying goodbye to our visitors and heading out to an extended recess, all our students received a sticker with the Vancouver Bee Project logo, and their very own, tiny 3d-printed bee friend (thank you to Susan Melton for the swarm!)

Summer Camp News
Preschool Camps Filling Fast!
Did you know Gardner summer camps are available to preschool campers as young as 3 years old? We run several camps each summer, taught by our DCYF Certified staff in our Licensed classrooms. These camps are aimed at students who have not yet entered kindergarten. Popular returning offerings include Beach Camp, Space Camp, and Winter in July!
Openings in these camps are extremely limited due to the need to maintain an appropriate student/teacher ratio, so if you are interested, sign up today! We maintain a waitlist for all camps, and spots do open up as plans change for some families. If you are interested in a camp which is full, sign up for the Waitlist to maintain your spot in line in case of vacancies!

Summer Camp Spotlight
Do You Know the Vertebrates?
Our summer camps this year are a delightful mix of science, art, adventure, challenge, and curiosity. In this camp, our Art Teacher Millie will be guiding students through learning about the major classes of vertebrate animals, spending a good deal of time in our wetlands searching for living examples! Campers can expect fun songs, lots of artistic opportunities, and an enthusiastic, creative approach to learning some basics of zoology! Do You Know the Vertebrates? runs July 29th - August 2nd, and is open to students currently in Kindergarten through Second Grade. Enroll in this class and others online today!

Yearbook Sneak Preview
Baby Pictures Wanted!
As we look forward to spring, the creation of our annual Yearbook is on our minds and agendas! One of the beloved traditions we have for our yearbook is a "Guess Who?" section, made of the baby pictures of our students here at Gardner. Guessing who all the pictures are is fun for the students, and sometimes not as easy as you might think!
If you would like to include your child's baby picture in the 2023-2024 yearbook, please email Jared ( jrenfro@gardnerschool.org) one baby picture of your child by Friday, March 22nd!

Learning in Action
Oobleck and Loowit
|
|
Read Across America Day and Dr. Seuss Day were celebrated this week in our 2nd grade classroom. A particularly entertaining project was creating Oobleck, a non-Newtonian fluid inspired by Bartholomew and the Oobleck. Mixing science, reading, and fun- just a typical day at Gardner School!
