Girls and Women in Scouting

Scouts Australia recently celebrated 50 years of girls and women in Scouts Australia's youth program. Being diverse and inclusive is an integral part of who we are as Scouts.

The Reynella Scout Group is proud to have a diverse Scout Group. We have parity in our Leadership Team (a 50:50 split of female to male Leaders) and youth members (33 female and 32 male).

Thank you to the girls and women past, present and future, who make Scouting the amazing movement that it is! Here is to shaping tomorrow's leaders, today!

Scouts SA Now Accepts Sports Vouchers!

What is the Sports Vouchers Program? It is an SA Government initiative that helps families cover the costs of their children's sports and recreation activities. All children living in South Australia, from Reception to Year 9, are eligible for a Sports Voucher each calendar year.

The Sports Voucher Program contributes $100 to the Branch Membership Fee (in the Reynella Scout Group the Branch Membership Fee is included in the Term Fee payment).

Scouts SA hopes that the Sports Voucher Program makes Scouting more accessible and affordable for everyone.  Apply today via the online portal!

When the use of your Sports Voucher is approved your will be notified by Scouts SA Head Office via email. The Scout Group will then split the discount throughout your remaining term fee invoices for the calendar year.

The Scouts Australia Youth Program:
Let's Learn More About Special Interest Areas (SIAs)

Special Interest Areas encourage Scouts from all Sections (Joeys, Cubs, Scouts, Venturers, Rovers) to try new things and pursue existing interests. Scouts set their own goals in one of the six Special Interest Areas, enabling them to design a project that interests and challenges them personally.

Special Interest Areas give young people ownership of their own development. Research tells us that this is important to learning success.

Special Interest Areas build upon skills such as creativity, independence, and problem-solving. They also teach Scouts to set, plan towards, and achieve goals with projects deliberately open-ended and designed to meet the individual needs of each Scout.

The Special Interest Areas provide scope for adaptability and future proofing of the Achievement Pathways. For example, when new and emerging technologies are developed, they can easily be pursued by Scouts without having to create new Special Interest Areas.

Learn a New Song On The Flute

Project: Learn A New Song On The Flute
Area: Arts and Literature

Goal:
  • To learn a new song on the flute.
  • I will be supported by my music teacher.

Review:
  • What was the most important thing you learned? That you can’t change the notes they have to be the right ones or it won’t sound right.
  • What was the hardest part of your Special Interest Area? They were new songs where I had to learn new notes and remember where my fingers needed to be.
  • How do you feel about your Special Interest Area Project? I feel proud playing in front of the scout group for the first time and completing my goal. I enjoyed reaching my goal but didn’t enjoy practicing the same song every day.
  • In what ways have you developed by doing this Project? Committed to the task until I completed my goal, the SPICES I covered were Character and Social as I worked with my flute teacher.
  • How could you continue or extend this Special Interest Area? Continuing to practice and learn new notes and songs.

Term One Fees

Term One Fee invoices have been issued to all registered members. Invoices are sent via email through our accounting system (ReckonOne). If you have not received your invoice please check your junk mail folder.

We believe in the value of Scouting for everyone. If you are experiencing financial hardship we encourage you to reach out. If you initiate discussions we can work together find options to support your family’s continued involvement in Scouting. The Scout Group supports extensions on payment terms and payment plans. Scouts SA also has financial support available.
Term Fee Consultation

The Reynella Scout Group Term Fee covers the ongoing facilitation of Scouting within the Scout Group. We believe the Reynella Scout Group offers value for money.

In 2023 the Reynella Scout Group Term Fee was $105. However, to keep up with our increasing expenses, our term fees must increase in 2024.

We will consult with families on this increase; with member families asked to vote on a preferred fee structure moving forward. A new Term Fee will be set (from Term Two onwards) as a result of this consultation.

OPTION ONE: Increased Term Fees
Term Fee: $115
Annual Fundraising Levy: $40

In this fee structure, families would be asked to assist at a fundraising activity annually or pay the Fundraising Levy.

OPTION TWO: Increased Fundraising / Group Support
Term Fee: $105
Term Assistance Levy: $40

In this fee structure, families would be asked to assist the Scout Group in some way each term or pay the assistance levy.
