For undergraduate, graduate, and professional school students:
Here’s what WFU should know this week.

Thursday, March 28, 2024

Advisory: Black Hawk helicopters will land on Poteat Field on April 4 as part of ROTC training.

Academics

For undergraduate students:

  • Last day to drop second part-of-term classes is Friday, March 29. The last day to change from a letter grade to pass/fail in an approved second part-of-term class is also Friday, March 29.
  • Registration for fall courses begins next week. Please see the student training webpage for helpful information about registration in Workday.
  • Walk with Wente: Meet Jennifer Greiman, Professor, English: President Wente invites faculty members to share their contributions and insights with the Wake Forest community by joining her on a “Walk with Wente.” In this episode, she walks and talks with Jennifer Greiman, professor of English, about how 18th- and 19th-century American literature can inform our approach to today’s issues, especially around democracy, and more.

For graduate students:

Important information for all students:

  • To prepare for registration next week in Workday Student, be sure to update your browser to its most recent version so that you are able to log in easily. Read more about supported browsers. If you’re unsure about how to update your browser, contact The Bridge (Service Desk). Also, undergraduate students received a reminder email this week from the Office of the University Registrar with links to registration-support options like chat, training materials, and more. Check your email!
  • Be aware of phishing scams, particularly ones asking you to buy prepaid cards or gift cards. Phishing scams are emails or other messages that appear to come from a known sender but are actually sent by hackers or other dangerous entities. Phishing emails often ask a user to click on a fraudulent link or request personal information such as a password or banking information. Read more.

    What you may see
    • The email is personalized with your name as the recipient.
    • The “from” field contains the name of a Wake Forest professor or student. The email may use the name, title, contact information of the real WFU-affiliated person in the signature and/or in the text of the message.
    • The sending email address may be spoofed. A spoofed email address will look exactly like a real email address. Before sending a reply, always check the reply-to field. Generally, legitimate email from an individual will have matching reply-to and from addresses.

    Red flags

    • Requests to share personal information
    • Requests to deposit checks and spend or send back some or all of the money
    • Requests for payment, prepaid cards or gift cards
