Ongoing Property Improvements

So far in 2024 the Scout Group delivered two property improvements. Both improvements have been realized free of charge to the Scout Group:
  • Carpark Releveling and Surfacing
  • Cement between Scout Hall and Nerx Den
Carpark Releveling and Surfacing:

Over February the carpark was re levelled and re surfaced. The new and improved carpark is now open for business!

This project was initiated and fully funded by the City of Onkaparinga with the goal of creating more public parking in Old Reynella.

The improved carpark is reserved for Scouting families only during our weekly meetings. Signage to advise the community of this will be installed shortly.
Cement between Scout Hall and Nerx Den:

When the Nerx Den was installed in 2022 the project budget did not have sufficient funds to surface between the Scout Hall and the Nerx Den. This re surfacing was de prioritized in 2023 with the other improvements happening around the property.

Recently the Scout Group was approached by the Civil Contractors Federation and their SA Women in Civil Pre-Employment Program. As part of their practical training program they concreted the space between the Nerx Den and the Scout Hall.

The Scout Group was honored to be involved in providing educational and employment opportunities to women in the civil construction industry.
REVIEW:
Friday 15th, Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th March
Reynella Scout Group Family Camp

Last weekend (Friday 15th, Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th March) was the Scout Group's annual Family Camp. This great activity was held at Woodhouse Adventure Park with families arriving Friday or Saturday.

Over the weekend families; slid on the tube slides, conquered Challenge Hill, went looking for possums on a night walk, had a blast at laser tag, tried frisbee golf AND made new friends. What a great weekend!

Friday 8th to Monday 11th March
Roonka Scout Camp

The Scout Unit spent the March Long Weekend camping at Roonka River Adventure Park at Blanchetown.
Youth Member Review from Urja (Scout):

On my recent four-day, three-night camp adventure was absolutely unforgettable, filled with laughter, excitement, and new experiences. The first night at Galwer, my tent mates and I opened the back of our tent to sleep under the breathtaking starlit sky. The next day we drove to Roonka while singing our favourite car ride songs. Despite the scorching heat in Roonka, we didn't let it dampen our spirits. We played games, splashed around in the water, and bonded like never before. Each day brought something new, whether it was fishing, kayaking, or even participating in mock emergency situations, which I found fascinating given my dream of becoming a doctor. And the last night watching Wish a movie I have been dying to watch – it was the perfect end to the day. As we packed up and headed home, after our incredible four days and three nights together, we stopped on the way to get some delicious ice cream, reflecting on the unforgettable adventures and friendships we'd made along the way.
Scouts SA Now Accepts Sports Vouchers!

What is the Sports Vouchers Program? It is an SA Government initiative that helps families cover the costs of their children's sports and recreation activities. All children living in South Australia, from Reception to Year 9, are eligible for a Sports Voucher each calendar year.

The Sports Voucher Program contributes $100 to the Branch Membership Fee (in the Reynella Scout Group the Branch Membership Fee is included in the Term Fee payment).

Scouts SA hopes that the Sports Voucher Program makes Scouting more accessible and affordable for everyone.  Apply today via the online portal!

When the use of your Sports Voucher is approved your will be notified by Scouts SA Head Office via email. The Scout Group will then split the discount throughout your remaining term fee invoices for the calendar year.

Term Fee Consultation

The Reynella Scout Group Term Fee covers the ongoing facilitation of Scouting within the Scout Group. We believe the Reynella Scout Group offers value for money.

In 2023 the Reynella Scout Group Term Fee was $105. However, to keep up with our increasing expenses, our term fees must increase in 2024.

We will consult with families on this increase; with member families asked to vote on a preferred fee structure moving forward. A new Term Fee will be set (from Term Two onwards) as a result of this consultation.

OPTION ONE: Increased Term Fees
Term Fee: $115
Annual Fundraising Levy: $40

In this fee structure, families would be asked to assist at a fundraising activity annually or pay the Fundraising Levy.

OPTION TWO: Increased Fundraising / Group Support
Term Fee: $105
Term Assistance Levy: $40

In this fee structure, families would be asked to assist the Scout Group in some way each term or pay the assistance levy.

More information is available in the attachments below.
