Nearly 2,000 new homes coming for people in B.C.
Nearly 2,000 new affordable homes are on the way for renters in Metro Vancouver.
A total of 17 new projects in Metro Vancouver have been selected through the third intake of the Building BC: Community Housing Fund (CHF).
The Community Housing Fund is part of a $19-billion housing investment by the B.C. government.

Province supports more school improvements
As we support school districts to undertake school renovations and add infrastructure, we are ensuring that our kids have clean, safe, modern places to learn and grow.
That’s why we’re making historic investments in upgrading schools throughout B.C. with $291.9 million for school maintenance projects.
This is an investment to help make schools more energy efficient, climate resilient and better able to support their school communities.

Province strengthens flood defences, protecting people, communities
The climate crisis is here, and we need communities to adapt and strengthen their defences against flooding and other extreme-weather events.
We are working with local governments and First Nations to reduce disaster risk and better prepare people and communities for the impacts of climate change.
More communities will benefit from local projects that help keep people safe during disasters and extreme-weather events.

Province takes early action to prepare for wildfire, drought season
We have seen the devastating consequences of climate change on our communities.
We are using lessons learned from last year to strengthen our approach to emergencies.

Enhanced technology will help better predict wildfire movement, growth
During a wildfire, every second counts.
As the impacts of climate change evolve, so too must our ability to manage the threat of wildfires.
By adding more technology to the BC Wildfire Service’s tool kit, our firefighters will be able to make critical decisions faster when it matters most.
