Happy March!
Congratulations to the team for completing the car and having our first testing session of the 2024 car! Read on as we recap what we’ve been up to and take a peek into the exciting advancements we have planned as we go into our 10th anniversary as a team. |

2024 Testing
We are immensely thrilled to announce we completed our first shake down test of the car months ahead of last year. Unfortunately, we experienced a failure of our right wheel hub during testing. Thankfully, through the team's hard work to finish the car early, we have time to properly test, manufacture, and ensure the car is reliable before we compete this year. |
Thank you to our alumni, Collin Olsen, for coming out to help the team through his guidance on machining a new hub! |
We would also like to thank Emerson for completing a failure analysis for the team by performing Dye Penetrant testing on all of our hubs and uprights! This will give us the confidence we need to continue testing and allow us to make educated decisions about our current parts and what we will need to remake for the future. |
We would also like to recognize Noel, Arjun, and the rest of our software team for their efforts over the last semester to ensure we have data from each testing day to analyze and make detailed decisions for the car - marking a big step forward for the team! |

Comets Giving DaySupport the future of the team! |
Comets Giving Day is the largest fundraiser we hold every year, providing the team with a unique opportunity to fundraise for our success next season!
Every donation matters, even small ones. Various challenges are available where we can win bonus funds through challenges we complete if we all donate at the right time. Be sure to keep up with our team’s social media pages along with the UTD Comets Giving Day page to find a detailed list of each challenge and what you can do to help support us.
Thanks to your monumental support last year, we received over $13k in funding across 200 gifts, through various key challenges winning us extra funds. This gave us the chance to represent our organization on a much larger scale and help fund our team to reach our full potential for the next competition season - overall boosting our reputation and elevating your support. |
This year, to take our team to the next level we have partnered with TORMACH for Comets Giving Day. This is an opportunity to completely revolutionize how we manufacture the crucial components for our vehicles. Your donations will directly support the team’s acquisition of a PCNC 440 3-Axis Mill. This single machine will allow us to fabricate our most complex and critical parts in-house, thereby inspiring and providing the next generation of rising engineers of our team with the tools they need to succeed!
Our wheel uprights are some of the most vital parts of the car that TORMACH will make possible for us! | | |
