Guest Update
Family Advocate and Prevention Specialist, Marissa, had the opportunity to help prevent a family from experiencing homelessness. This family consisted of 1 parent and 3 kiddos who found themselves in an unfortunate situation. They paid their rent each month, but due to the parent's hours being reduced at work, and a family break up, they could not afford their utilities. This resulted in the family falling a few months behind and receiving a shut-off warning.

They came to Family Promise and we were able to assist them with paying for the utilities owed, as they did not qualify for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) or other financial assistance due to their income being too high. This is typically because federally funded programs often require you to be under 30% of the median income for Gallatin County. Because the cost of living is consistently increasing, and wages are stagnant, we hope to continue educating our community that we do not strictly serve low-income families. We serve families of all compositions and varying income backgrounds.
Executive Director Update
This week, members of the FP team got to tour the much needed new campus of Help Center Inc. For more than half a century, Help Center, Inc. has served as our community’s first and most trusted call for those facing a mental health crisis or actively considering suicide, meeting the immediate and ongoing counseling and advocacy needs of survivors of sexual assault of all ages, and providing supportive family visitation services.

If you or someone you know needs help, reach out to the Help Center’s 24/7 Crisis Lines at 406-586-3333, 988, or 211.

FPGV would love to give our neighbors at Valley Credit Union a shoutout! They not only hosted a diaper drive for March but also donated generously thanks to their Refer-A-Friend Program! This program works when you refer a friend to open an account with Valley Credit Union, both you and the friend receive $50, and $50 is donated to a local nonprofit. We are so grateful to be the recipient of this wonderful donation! Thank you Valley Credit Union staff for your partnership and for believing in our mission!

This was our last week of “We Love to Read Month” with special guests Elephant and Piggie! Students got to listen to the reading of "I Like Slop" and had a chance to brave the slop (made of yummy ingredients, apple sauce, and raisins of course). We are sad to see this month go but end on a fun note- dress like your favorite book character day! It has been so fun transporting into different literature worlds every week and seeing where our imagination can take us.

Stay tuned for April’s theme “All About Animals” starting with a special visit from Minnie the Goat...yes, a real goat!
