Hybrid Program starts at 7 p.m.
Safiyyah is the author of the best selling book Knit 2 Socks in 1. She is also a knitwear designer, teacher, blogger, and podcaster that works out of her home in scenic Indiana, USA. When she is not knitting, Safiyyah either spends her free time hiking with her photographer husband, her toddler son Beau and chocolate lab Arya, or enjoying the rural Indiana landscape with her three cats Khaleessi, Nymeria, and Benjamin Chase.

April Meeting Book Exchange
The social hour at the April meeting will include a book exchange, so come early to participate. For every book you bring from your library of knitting/crochet/fiber related books, you will get a ticket that you can then use to “buy” another book brought to the exchange. All remaining books will be given to Disco Fibers.

Member Tip

Anna is going to talk about the "ins and outs" of running stitch markers, both horizontal and vertical.

Bring Something for the Free Table!
If you have yarn you no longer love, leftovers from a finished project or something has just been hanging around in your stash too long, bring it for the free table at the in-person meeting. You might take away a treasure that was someone else’s giveaway!

Knitting Help 5¢

Bring your knitting questions and get expert help! Our knitting help desk is staffed during the social knitting portion of the in-person meeting by our wonderful volunteers.

Our monthly meetings require a small but crucial team of volunteers in order to run smoothly, including for registration, as meeting assistants, as audio/visual support, and at the help desk. Read full descriptions of each position including responsibilities and time commitment: Puddletown Volunteer Descriptions

Interested in volunteering? Contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Seth, at volunteer@puddletownknittersguild.com. You can sign up for one single shift or commit to a position for the rest of the year. Thank you for your support!
Volunteer for PKG at Gathering of the Guilds!
We will be staffing a demonstration table in the lobby of Gathering of the Guilds, which will give us a chance to promote membership in our guild! Are you available to help out? Volunteers will hand out postcards, answer questions about the benefits of being a part of PKG, and will demonstrate how to knit. Shifts are in three-hour increments on Friday, April 19th (10am-1pm, 1pm-4pm, 4pm-7pm) and Sunday, April 21st (10am-1pm, 1pm-4pm). The event will take place at the Oregon Convention Center at 777 NE MLK Jr Blvd in Portland. If you'd like to sign up to volunteer, send an email to Seth at volunteer@puddletownknittersguild.com with your top two shift choices. Thank you!

Service Project

Puddletown Knitters are amazing! We are on the verge of hitting and exceeding our goal, thanks to your generosity. We've received a stack of 10 hats from a brand new member (thank you, Karen!) and another 5 hats sent from clear across the country (wow, Becca!) and many, many more items from long-time service knitters and first-time donors, as well.

The guests of Rose Haven will be so thrilled with the beautiful items you have been making. Please keep it up and help us shower Rose Haven with more wonderful accessories than they could have imagined.

The deadline for turning in items for this challenge is our next meeting: April 11. If you can't make the meeting but have items to turn in, contact us at outreach@puddletownknittersguild.com and we will arrange a drop off.

Becca Huben sent these gorgeous hats all the way from Connecticut.

Knit for Food

We had a really great group of knitters turn up for the event, and enjoyed the morning of knitting camaraderie - making hats on the machines was particularly popular. Members ended up making 8 hats on the spot during the event for our service partner, Rose Haven, and had an additional 23 items turned in for them! We're looking forward to next year's knit-a-thon with even bigger & better goals.

Puddletown members who chose to share their participation pages at the event raised a cumulative total of $2,595! Knit for Food raised a total of $379,010 by 7.1k supporters universally, the fundraising being equally shared between Feeding America, World Central Kitchen, No Kid Hungry, and Meals on Wheels.

The Psychology of Color: Color Theory for Makers

The psychology of color asks why you are drawn to certain colors. And how much of that is influenced by our environment? Let’s become empowered to break that cycle with some advanced color theory and identify how to make clothes that truly represent our unique personalities and tastes.
