Salem Symphonic Winds invites you to embark on a musical journey to the Middle East like never before! On this enchanting afternoon, we’ll celebrate the rich cultures and histories of several regions, all through the universal language of music.

🎵 Program Highlights:
- World Premiere: Be among the first to experience the band arrangement of The Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám by Alan Hovhaness. This masterpiece, inspired by the poetry of Omar Khayyám, delves into themes of life, death, love, and fate. The fusion of Western and Eastern musical elements creates an exotic and captivating sound.
- Accordion Magic: Our virtuoso accordionist, Tommy Thompson, will weave his magic, adding a unique flavor to the performance.
- Soprano Serenade: The transcendent soprano and actress, Rebecca Fromherz, will take center stage, enchanting us with her voice. She’ll also perform two opera arias: the Air of Salome from Herodiade by Jules Massenet and an aria from Die Tote Stadt by Erich Wolfgang Korngold.
- Diverse Repertoire: From Verdi’s powerful Overture to Nabucco to the iconic Theme from Lawrence of Arabia by Maurice Jarre, our program showcases the richness of Middle Eastern musical traditions. You’ll also enjoy Armenian Dances, Klezmer Classics, Of Blood and Stone: The Pyramids of Giza and more!
