The 2024 Dean Stuart Stritzler-Levine Seniors-to-Seniors Scholarships Presentation will be held on Friday, April 5th, at the Reem-Kayden Center Auditorium, room 103, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. for Bard LLI’s membership. Each year, LLI funds modest scholarships to assist Bard students with their senior projects in honor of Dean Levine’s unwavering support for LLI at Bard College. The students will present their projects and answer questions.  We will have refreshments afterward. These are the five scholarship recipients:

• Josh Guerreo, a music major, is conducting a series of field recordings that attempt to capture the natural and urban environments where Bard College resides, as well as local areas around the Hudson Valley.
• Nine Reed-Mara, a biology and written arts double major, has designed an experiment to test the potential of a novel method for controlling antibiotic resistance.
• Yizhen Dai, an art history and film double major, will present her work  consisting of a film and a series of paintings called "Fruity Personalities." It aims to invoke the vivid expressiveness of fruits to examine the multifaceted nature of female identity.
• Danielle Dean, a written arts major, is writing a novel that takes place in the 1970s, in an urban setting that resembles NYC and the overall Americas/World, but one in which the displacement of Africa and colonization never happened.
• Ray Smith, a photography major, took photographs from her childhood and recreated them with full-sized thematic sets, costumes, and props to produce a photographic exhibition, photographic book, and series of hand-made frames.

This is a truly impressive group of scholars with a diverse range of interests so representative of Bard’s visionary student body. Mark your calendars, and please plan to attend on Friday, April 5th.
