ENROLLMENT & TUITION UPDATE

We are so excited to welcome three new students this past month! They have been enjoying pursuing their interests, making friends, and even running for student committee elections.

It's been a busy month of tours with prospective families, Visiting Weeks, Sudbury community get togethers, and plans for the upcoming school year. We have a few current families already signed up for our 6-week summer session from July 15 to August 27.

For families considering Saint Louis Sudbury School for the 2024-2025 School Year, please
consider scheduling a tour this spring and possible Visiting Week soon or in the summer! Visiting Weeks for prospective students are $175/week.

Also, we would like to share that we have decided to make a significant increase in
tuition prices for new families enrolling for the 2024-2025 School Year. For new families enrolling on July 1, 2024 and beyond, tuition prices have been adjusted to be more honest about what is required to keep our school running (even with very minimal expenses). We took into consideration a number of factors including projections for the cost of tuition assistance, being realistic on fundraising goals, our ability to attract and retain amazing staff, pricing for Sudbury model schools in comparable markets, private school tuition pricing in our region, and more. For new families enrolling on July 1 and later, full-time tuition will be $9,200 for 9 months and $6,900 for part-time (before any discounts or tuition assistance).

We realize that this is a large increase in price for new families who have been considering Sudbury. In consultation with more established Sudbury model schools around the country, the Sudbury board and staff decided that asking staff to continue to financially subsidize the running of the school is not a plan for sustainable success and would further contribute to staff burnout and high turnover.

Current families have been grandfathered in at the current tuition rate with small increases for inflation planned in the near future.

Sudbury board and staff will continue to work on fundraising as well so that we can ensure our Tuition Assistance program remains robust and available for as many students as possible. (
We greatly appreciate donations of any size!)

HEAR FROM GRADUATES

Did you miss the recent panel discussion featuring alumni of Zena Democratic School? Watch the recording! Discover how Self-Directed Education and democratic schooling experiences have affected these young people’s lives. The graduates were asked what is the single biggest benefit of attending Zena? One person shared that "letting go of the fear of if you don't know something that you are limited and that you have been left behind. It's never too late! It's a liberating feeling." Another highlighted that being at Zena helped them get used to seeing different ways of learning and paths of getting somewhere.
