Niagara Parks Commission Chair April Jeffs and CEO David Adames presented Niagara Parks' updates, initiatives and projects for Council's information.


The Niagara Parks' mandate is to be the environmental and cultural stewards of the Niagara River Corridor with the vision to be one of the most spectacular parks in the world.

Zoning By-law Amendment Application:

Council approved a Zoning By-law amendment to permit a 5-storey, 71-unit apartment building at the southwest corner of Mountain Road and St. Paul Avenue, subject to several regulations and a 3-year sunset clause.

Zoning By-law Amendment:
Lot 186 and 7640 Kalar Road

Council approved a Zoning By-law amendment to permit the development of 84 back-to-back townhouse dwellings and 29-block townhouse dwellings and protect the natural heritage features, subject to regulations and a 3-year sunset clause.

Draft Plan of Vacant Land Condominium & 
Zoning By-Law Amendment Application: 5558 Drummond Road

Council approved a Zoning By-law amendment, permitting the development of 12 townhouse dwelling units in 4 blocks with 6 Accessory Dwelling Units. The lands will be rezoned from a Residential Two (R2) to a site-specific Residential Low Density, Group Multiple Dwelling.

Council approved that Blythwood Homes Inc. will also develop the 0.37 ha site as a Plan of Vacant Land Condominium. Registering a Plan of Condominium on the lands will allow the individual ownership of the dwelling units, with the private road and visitor parking area in common ownership.

Zoning By-law Amendment Application: Montrose Road north of McLeod Road

Council approved a Zoning By-law amendment to permit the development of 83 townhouse dwelling units in 14 blocks of vacant land located on Montrose Road, north of McLeod Road.

Draft Plan of Vacant Land Condominium & Zoning By-law
Amendment Application: Montrose Road, north of McLeod Road, across from Kinsmen Court

Council approved a Zoning By-law Amendment and concurrent Draft Plan of Vacant Land Condominium application on behalf of Gemini Corporation for the lands on the west side of Montrose Road, north of McLeod Road, across from Kinsmen Court to develop a 91-block townhouse dwelling units on a private road by way of a vacant land condominium.

Council approved a flag-raising celebration on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, to commemorate Philippines Independence Day. Niagara Falls will also be illuminated in red, white and blue that same evening.

Pride Niagara Festival
Council approved a request from Pride Niagara for a flag-raising ceremony on June 3, 2024, as part of this year's Pride Niagara Festival for the month of June.

Council proclaimed March 21, 2024, as "Save Soil Day" in Niagara Falls. "Save Soil” is a global movement launched by Sadhguru, uniting world leaders, visionaries, influencers and citizens of all nations behind a common purpose – to restore and safeguard the world’s soil.
