NIH Simplified Review Framework for Research Project Grants (RPGs): Implementation and Impact on Funding Opportunities
April 17, 2024 - 1-2pm ET (9-10am AKST)
The NIH is siimplifying the framework for the peer review of most Research Project Grant applications, effective for due dates on or after January 25, 2025. These changes are designed to address the complexity of the peer reivew process and mitigate potential bias. Make plans to hear the latest updates, timelines, and how these changes will impact existing and new funding opportunities. Centered around the NIH SuRE R16 grant mechanism, the conference is open to faculty, students, and research administrative staff who meet specific R16 program requirements: 1) Faculty named on an active R16 award; 2) Students working in an R16-funded research lab; 3) Research administrative staff from an R16-eligible campus.
This conference is a unique opportunity to meet NIH grants management specialists, program officials, and scientific review officers, share science with like-minded colleagues, and attend sessions designed to help build research programs.

International Congress for Circumpolar Health (ICCH18) - Due to the high risk of drought and wildfire in the Northwest Territories this spring, this meeting has been postponed until later in 2024. Details about rescheduled dates and locations will be available soon.
15th International Conference on Brain Energy Metabolism (ICBEM) - Sept 17-21, 2024 in Ljubljana, Slovenia: "Brain Bioenergetics in Aging - Neurovascular and Neurometabolic Coupling and Fuels". This conference brings together leading researchers, clinicians, young scientists, and students interested in brain energy metabolism. The conference is open to all interested scientists with registration on a first-come basis until reaching a limit of 118 conferees. Registration covers most meals and meeting expenses. UAF URSA 2024 Supply and Service Awards: UAF faculty members, adjunct instructors, postdoctoral researchers, graduate students and staff from all disciplines and UAF-campuses are eligible to apply for up to $5,000 in supply and service funds to support undergraduate research, creative, and scholarly learning opportunities. *** All awarded funds must be spent by June 1, 2024.
