Earth Day Service to Feature "Eat Local" Refreshments; Your Participation Invited!
Sunday, April 21 is our Earth Day Service with guest speaker Steve Lohse. After the service, refreshments will have an "Eat Local" theme — food items featuring items produced and ingredients grown locally. That could be your own garden, Oahu, or Hawaii and is not limited to fruits and veggies (we do have some local eggs, dairy, and meat too). Want to sign up to bring something? Please visit hhhb.link/eatlocal for a signup form and some inspiration, or simply email the Green Team. (Pictured are some canoe plants, the theme of the 2023 Earth Day Service refreshments.)
At refreshments time, we can also enjoy a display on propagating native Hawaiian plants by Asami Nishihira, who completed a related Bronze Project in Girl Scouts. Asami will be present to answer questions about her project. Be sure to visit!
Dhammapada Talk Story: 4/23 with Guest Speaker Rev. Dr. Jason Storbakken

The event is free and open to the public. The intended venue is the Hondo, or main sanctuary space. (Signs will indicate if there are any venue changes.)
Dr. Storbakken is an interreligious scholar and spiritual practitioner and will share from his latest book Dhammapada: A Sacred Path toward Liberation from Harm Cycles.

We welcome you to bring your friends, family, and an open heart. Let’s gather for an evening of care and connection! More information is in our web calendar. (Note for anyone new to Hawaii Betsuin: Access to temple parking is from 1742 Lusitana St., not Pali Highway.)
