Great news! The long-selling Kamasada Kettles since 2003 have arrived at TGS after a year-long wait.

For centuries, the cast iron kettle, known as the tetsubin in Japan, has been a cornerstone of traditional Japanese households. Crafted entirely by hand using time-honored methods, these kettles are renowned for their detailed and decorative surfaces, achieved through the labor-intensive process of pouring heavy molten iron into single-use molds.

Unlike modern kettles, the tetsubin is dedicated solely to boiling water, with its raw interior allowing the iron to naturally infuse into the boiled water, providing potential health benefits. While traditionally used over open flames, the tetsubin is also compatible with induction cooktops.

Mark your calendars for June 1st and 2nd! Taka from Kaikado and Toru from Kanaami Tsuji in Kyoto will be back to offer you an authentic Kyoto experience at TGS. The details of the event will be announced as the date approaches, but for now, please save the date.

In the meantime, you can PRE-ORDER our non-regular items as special orders before their visit. These items have a lead time of several months for us to order, but they will be available to ship out or pick up while Taka and Toru are here. The deadline for pre-orders is May 15th, 2024.

Please take note that if you bring a receipt for any Kaikado canister that is dated after 4/18 to TGS on 6/1 or 6/2, Taka's will engrave your name on a free scooper for you.

Additionally, Toru is planning to offer a workshop in the morning on 6/1 and 6/2 where you can weave and create your Tofu scooper! Please stay tuned for more details.
