April 2024

April showers bring May flowers Distracted Driving Awareness Month and Earth Day. Continue reading to learn more about how we're driving change not just on the roads but also towards a greener, safer future.

Recognizing Distracted Driving Awareness Month

At the Mobility Authority, safety is our top priority. As we observe Distracted Driving Awareness Month this April, we urge all drivers to stay focused behind the wheel. Distractions come in various forms - from smartphones to noisy passengers - every second of distraction increases the risk of crashes. Here are our top tips for keeping your focus and avoiding distractions:

  • Put Your Phone Away: Keep your phone out of reach avoid the temptation of texting or calling while driving.
  • Plan Ahead: Set your GPS and adjust your mirrors, radio and climate controls before hitting the road.
  • Avoid Eating and Drinking: Enjoy meals and refreshments when you’re parked to keep your hands on the wheel and your focus on the road.
  • Manage Passengers: Set boundaries with passenger conversation to avoid excessive chatter or disruptive behavior that may distract you from driving safely.
  • Take Breaks: If feeling tired or drowsy, pull over at a safe location and take a break. Fatigue can impair your concentration and reaction times, increasing the risk of accidents.

Celebrate Earth Day and Drive Towards Sustainability

At the Mobility Authority, we are not just building roads, we’re nurturing communities and preserving our planet.
You can join us in celebrating Earth Day on April 22nd by:
  • Taking a stroll down our shared use paths. Enjoy the landscaping, the wildflowers, and the beautiful nature of Central Texas.
  • Reading educational trail signs along the 45SW Shared Use Path, learning about Earth's natural resources.
  • Opting to use our toll roads to access your favorite Central Texas trails quickly and efficiently. Less time in traffic means less CO2 emissions.
As we navigate through April, let's embrace mindfulness on the roads and gratitude for the planet we call home. Together, we can drive towards a future where sustainability and safety go hand in hand.

Community Engagement Highlight

Earlier this month, we were proud to sponsor and attend the Cedar Park Chamber of Commerce’s Cedar Fest. We had the pleasure of speaking with attendees about our ongoing projects, development in the region, and how to save on tolls with an electronic tag. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to chat with us!
