Proming Young Woman

Promising Young Woman

Wednesday, April 17, 6:30pm
Balcony Theatre
, 211 Taylor Street, Suite 401A
Port Townsend, WA

A dark comedy thriller and the 2021 Academy Award winner for Best Original Screenplay. Dove House representatives will lead a discussion following the film.

Film description: Written, directed, and co-produced by Emerald Fennell in her feature directorial debut. The story follows a troubled young woman haunted by a traumatic past as she navigates balancing forgiveness with vengeance. Dark comedy, thriller, crime drama and feminist critique blend into a highly engaging and timely take down of a dominant culture that too often emphasizes women as victims.

Join us for an entertaining and meaningful evening!

CROWDFUNDING CAMPAIGN:
LOCAL DOCUMENTARY DAMIAN & MICHAEL

Last time, We mentioned this campaign featuring local filmmakers, including PTFF alumni, Gabe Van Lelyveld and Jessica Plumb.

This extremely intimate documentary aims to change the way audiences view those struggling with addiction and homelessness. Relationship-centered and radically compassionate, it is a story of perseverance and the will to find enduring happiness despite one's circumstances.

This campaign ends in less than a week, and they’re making good progress. Check it out! Even a small contribution can help get this worthy project across the finish line.

Watch the trailer, learn all about the project, check out the incentives for supporters, and share it with others.

$$$ FOR DOCUMENTARY FILMMAKERS!

This opportunity from Cascade PBS caught our attention. Documentary filmmakers can apply for $40,000 in funding for a five-part docuseries.

The key requirement is that the filmmaker needs to be part of the community they are documenting (i.e., Indigenous stories told by Indigenous filmmakers, Latinx stories told by Latinx filmmakers, etc.)

Deadline: April 17, 2024

Our mission at PTFF is “sparking community through film.” But I’m inspired by the palpable sense of community I felt at the JC Farmers Market’s opening day last weekend. Question: should PTFF update its mission to be: “sparking community through film and goats”?
