Patchwork Indy has seen some monumental changes in the first part of 2024.
We have new staff, new offices, new programs, and a renewed sense of purpose. We have been designated a Private Sponsorship Organization in the state of Indiana, so we are working with communities around the state to bring refugees to family and friends and a place of safety. We had our first resource fair with over thirty organizations serving almost two hundred families. We completed the “Mirrors of Common Destiny” art exhibition, and we are now working on another art exhibit with work from Afghanistan and Ukraine. We are also building the Community Conversations and a Leadership Academy that will be launched later this year.
There is currently a great deal of negative and untrue rhetoric surrounding immigrants and refugees. Patchwork Indy reaffirms that we consider every individual to be of infinite worth, and every human being to be worthy of dignity, respect, and a chance at a safe and secure life. This goes beyond color, religion, sexual orientation, culture, or social or economic standing. We will be back into our monthly newsletter routine as we continue to tell you the story of Patchwork and the narrative we are helping to write. We invite you to stay engaged, contact us with questions, offer to volunteer, donate, and become a part of the conversation!
