Stop School Bullying toward Asian American Students


National anti-bullying nonprofit Act To Change, in partnership with Asian American news outlet NextShark and advertising agency Admerasia, has released the 2021 Asian American Bullying Survey Report that measures the impact of bullying, awareness, and prevention measures in the Asian American community, and found 80% OF ASIAN AMERICAN STUDENTS HAVE EXPERIENCED BULLYING.

The COVID-19 pandemic was a global health crisis that resulted in over 3 million deaths and shutdowns of entire industries. The first reported case was in Wuhan, China, at the end of 2019 and US lockdowns began in 2020 to prevent the spread of the disease. The emergence of COVID-19 and its contagious spread throughout the globe brought extreme changes to modern society. Among these changes included increased discrimination towards Asian Americans. Racially motivated hate crimes spiked in America because of the supposed origin of the disease in China. This and other social, physical, and economic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic are still felt today and will continue to affect future developments in the United States.

Whether you are Hmong or non-Hmong and would like to explore the Hmong language and literacy, we are offering FREE virtual and in-person classes for our diverse community members who wish to learn the Hmong language (White/Green dialects). With a focus on Hmong vocabularies, alphabet, speech, and practical communication to help individual(s) gain confidence and fluency in Hmong, our elders and instructors will offer these FREE courses from the H18C Education Department if there is enough Hmong and non-Hmong individuals register for either the virtual or in-person classes.

Black Citizenship in the Age of Jim Crow

Explore the African American fight for full citizenship and racial equality that unfolded in the 50 years after the Civil War. The Minnesota Historical Society is hosting an exhibit on Black Citizenship in the Age of Jim Crow at the Minnesota History Center through June 9. So we want your opinions!

Benefits to being involved in this Taskforce include:

2.) You will get to practice being a philanthropist and a grant-maker
3.) You will learn some new collaboration and  leadership skills
