From the Principal’s desk

I wish all our Muslim families a blessed Eid and trust that it is a special time with family and friends.

After a very short holiday, we are back in full swing.  The school is buzzing with a variety of activities every day, afternoon and evening. It's a testament to the drive and enthusiasm of our learners that they not only give their all in the classroom but also fill their lives with exciting activities offered after school. From sports to arts, our students are embracing every opportunity with excitement.

Over the holidays, there were no less than three hockey tournaments. A group also travelled to George for the Mega Festival to compete in football and netball. We are proud of all these players' achievements, applaud their incredible teamwork, and admire the pride with which they wear our school colours.

A special welcome to our new staff:

  • Ms Meagan Abrahams - IT Intern

  • Ms Genevieve Carruthers-Smith - Mathematics

  • Ms Tracey Crawford - Maths Literacy Maternity cover

  • Ms Chanelle Daniels - Hostel Cook

  • Ms Nicole Duarte - Geography

  • Mr Waleed Isaacs - Accounting Maternity cover

  • Ms Bernadette Lee - Afrikaans

  • Ms Seshni Naidu - Life Sciences, Head of Department

  • Ms Liesel Devos (in May) - Hostel Duty Mistress

While this is an examination term, it will still be filled with many exciting opportunities for involvement and enjoyment.  Please do not forget to book your Comedy Evening tickets via Karri; this is a great opportunity for the RGHS community to have a fun evening out.

Deep Learning Conversations

Deep Learning Conversations (DLCs) are the backbone of the house system and are foundational to the care we offer our pupils. It is important that at least one parent/guardian from each family attends along with the learners. All subjects teachers will provide meaningful feedback to your child’s tutor regarding their academics, behaviour, work-ethic and general well-being. This will then be discussed with all parties concerned as part of a DLC.

Tutors will be sending out correspondence regarding their availability shortly. Parents are also always welcome to contact any teachers directly, should they have any individual subject concerns.

The Grade 8 and 10 DLCs will take place next week Wednesday, 17 April. School closes at 14:30 for all learners.

Dates of upcoming parental contact times:

  • Grade 8, 10: 17 April - Deep Learning Conversations (school closes 14:30)

  • Grade 9: 11 July - Deep Learning Conversations (school closes 14:30)

  • Grade 8 - 12: 15 July - Parent - Teacher Meeting (17:00 - 21:00)

Mid-Year Examination Timetable

The final Exam Timetable has been emailed to parents and learners along with a letter that contains important assessment policy information.
