Bizet’s Carmen at the Royal Opera House

This week, mezzo-soprano Aigul Akhmetshina triumphed in a new production of Bizet's Carmen at the Royal Opera House. The Guardian called her performance "electrifying", whilst The i said: "this will be spoken about for years to come". Akhmetshina is widely regarded as 'the Carmen of the moment' - having recently starred in a new production of the opera at The Met, she will lead another new production at Glyndebourne Festival this summer. In Akhmetshina, Lise Davidsen and Freddie de Tommaso, Premier's Classical team represents the leading mezzo, soprano and tenor of our time.

The Tattooist of Auschwitz

Premier worked with Sky to bring together two insightful and moving Q&A and screening events this week for upcoming original series, The Tattooist of Auschwitz. Working with Women in Film & Television, we supported an "In Conversation With Melanie Lynskey", hosted by Rowan Woods, which took a retrospective look at Melanie's impressive career to date, followed by a screening of episode one. We also supported a screening and panel session for the Royal Television Society, which featured executive producer and creative director of Synchronicity Films Claire Mundell, director Tali Shalom-Ezer, and cast Jonah Hauer-King, Anna Próchniak, Jonas Nay, and Melanie Lynskey, hosted by Jason Solomons. The conversation explored both the importance and the challenges of bringing to screen the true story of Lali and Gita, and how they found love in the darkest of places. Based on the book of the same name, written by Heather Morris.

Freddie De Tommaso on Classic FM

Last week Classic FM announced that British-Italian tenor Freddie De Tommaso, a long-standing Premier client, is to present a new series celebrating the classical music of Italy. Featuring renowned recordings, Freddie will share his personal stories of performing in those cities, as well as referencing the culture of the home of ‘La dolce vita’.

Glasgow International Festival of Contemporary Art

Teams across Premier have been working with Glasgow International in the build-up to the programme launch. Glasgow International (Fri 7 — Sun 23 June 2024) is a collective endeavour rooted in Glasgow’s year-round visual arts ecology and is a unique celebration of art: of those who make it, and those who create space for it. The Premier Scotland team is working with the team at GI on the marketing and digital communications for this year’s edition. Premier’s creative team then produced an animated ident to announce the festival’s 2024 programme on social media. Click here to view the announcement post on Instagram.
