Last Chance! Boundary Training Online Options

Teaching elders, online options are now available for Boundary Training. If you did not participate in Boundary Training on January 20, and you have not given me documentation of completing the requirement elsewhere, you have a few options for meeting this requirement:

1) Participate in an online session of the "Not Your Average Boundaries Training" course with LeaderWise. (Check out the PoB and PSNE folks in the testimonial video!). The next training is offered on May 15 & 16. This is a Zoom training, and full attendance is required. Please note that the times listed on the website are in Central Time.

2) Complete Convergence CoLab's Boundary Training for Clergy Course. This is an asynchronous option, meaning that you can complete the course modules on your own schedule. Use the code BOUNDARY for a significant discount.

3) If there is a similar course that you would like to consider taking instead, please send that information for my review at statedclerk@presbyteryofboston.org. We have several people, especially those serving in UCC congregations, who plan to complete one of the upcoming SNEUCC trainings. Candidates and Inquirers may have an upcoming training offered by their seminary.

The updated deadline is April 15. No later than that date, please send me either:

a) a certificate of completion for the Convergence CoLab Clergy Boundary Training course;

b) proof of registration for a LeaderWise or SNEUCC course in May or June; or

c) a clearly documented plan for meeting this requirement in an alternative, equivalent manner within two months.

This is a requirement for all teaching elders who have not retired, and for retired members of Presbytery who are involved in supply preaching, committee/commission service, or any other active service. This is also a requirement for all inquirers and candidates.

Ruling elders are not required to complete one of these courses at this time, although I plan to send you additional resources this year to support you in your ministry.

Remember that if you have already completed an equivalent Boundary Training course since the start of 2023, you should email a certificate or other proof of completion to me, and you do not need to complete an additional course at this time.

If the cost of meeting this requirement is prohibitive, especially if you do not have access to continuing education funds, please let us know.

Looking ahead in the coming months, we will be following up yet again to share tools to Sessions for equipping your congregations for healthy leadership, and to offer specific resources for additional training in child and youth protection.

Let me know if you have any questions. Thank you for your attention to this important matter, and thank you for your ministry and faithfulness to Jesus Christ and his Church.
