Carpe diem the last days!
Spring is here, with sunshine, warming temperatures, plants abloom – and a glorious two-week finale to the year for snowboarders and skiers. Up on our favorite mountain, aka Schweitzer, a series of hefty March snowstorms provided an excellent base for fine spring skiing conditions. What's more, after a recent spate of sunny days, the National Weather Service predicts another round of snow showers are headed our way to give a final boost to the snowpack. Schweitzer has set its closing weekend for April 13-14, with its annual Schpring Finale providing a ton of fun events . Now's the time to seize those last runs of the year!
And off the ski hill, spring is unfolding with its usual remarkable speed in these northern latitudes. The waters of magnificent Lake Pend Oreille are rising as the snowmelt arrives from the mountains. Lower elevation trails are snow-free and beckoning walkers, hikers and mountain bikers. And all around town there are events, live music and amazing shows coming to the historic Panida Theater and The Hive concert hall. We hope to see you here!

Steampunk up to here
MarchFourth to light up Panida
The Panida Theater will host a kaleidoscope of musical and visual energy when Portland's MarchFourth band visits on April 24. With costumes inspired by a band-camp-meets-circus sensibility, the band consists of electric bass, guitar, four-piece percussion corps, a seven-part brass section – plus dancers, acrobatics, stilt-walkers and a diverse musical repertoire combining brassy funk, rock, and jazz. Far from a "marching band" in any traditional sense, MarchFourth has nevertheless been known to swagger down Main Street playing a few tunes before taking the stage.
