🌦 Hello, friends!
As April showers bring May flowers, we're reminded that brighter days and spring events are just around the corner!
While we eagerly await the bloom of those May flowers, we're bursting with excitement for the array of events blooming on our calendar this spring. From vibrant talks to engaging partnerships, there's something delightful for everyone.
Come say hi, share your stories, and let's make this season one to remember!
Coming events
In the upcoming months, we will be partnering with the Wisconsin LGBT Chamber of Commerce and UW-WiT.
Coming up in April, we're getting together with UW-Women in IT for our annual speed networking event at UW Memorial Union. Later this month, we're partnering with a variety of organizations for an online panel focused on women in gaming, and getting together with the LGBT Chamber to talk about using ChatGPT for small businesses.
In May, we will be co-hosting with Doyenne at 100State for a hybrid event about legal business aspects to consider when starting and building your company. Then, we're partnering with our amazing friends at MadPy for an event on mastering pythonic data validation and transformation with pydantic.
To close out May, we've rescheduled our event on exploring language as tech, as data, and as identity for May 30th!
Warmest wishes 🌸
- Anna, Pao, Steph, Sara, Hilary and Isabel

We're excited to partner again with Madison's Python meetup, MadPy, for this educational deep dive into Pydantic from Sydney Runkle!
In this talk, attendees will have the opportunity to learn about Pydantic, Python's leading data validation library. Powered by type hints, Pydantic rapidly validates, with support for easy-to-use custom validators and serializers. Pydantic also offers JSON schema generation, which allows for easy integration with tools across platforms.
Attendees will learn about basic usage of Pydantic, and how the tool can be applied to a wide variety of applications, from LLM response validation to API request/response structural support. We'll also touch on some little-known performance tips and recently released features.

This event was originally scheduled in March as a hybrid event, but inclement weather and school closings led to us postponing it for later in spring.
Language does more than you think it does. Join Samantha Beaver and Women in Tech for an exciting evening of linguistic exploration: learn to reframe language as a technology, leverage language samples as business-critical data, and understand your own self as being indexed by the language you use.
Both theoretical and practical, this talk is a great opportunity to dive deep into a fascinating topic - with a real linguist - that too often goes under-examined in the workplace.
