Palmetto Cyber Defense Competition

April 13-15

The Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Atlantic, the Navy’s East Coast Engineering Center, in collaboration with the South Carolina Lowcountry Chapter of the Armed Forces Communications Electronics Association (AFCEA) facilitates a cyber defense competition each spring.


The goal is to energize high schools, colleges, and their students to focus on the development of technical skills in the area of networking and cyber security. Pro Day teams use the event for workforce development/training, recruitment and the challenge of competing in the cyber arena.

Cyber In the Middle

The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Atlantic, in collaboration with the South Carolina Lowcountry Chapter of the Armed Forces Communications Electronics Association (AFCEA) facilitates the very successful Palmetto Cyber Defense Competition (PCDC) each spring at Trident Technical College.


Cyber in the Middle is designed to allow 8th Grade Middle School Students an opportunity to have a special look into the PCDC competition and provide the students with age appropriate, engaging and hands-on Cyber activities to create greater interest and build excitement about Cybersecurity.

The PCI Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) is a global standard that provides a baseline of operational & technical requirements designated to protect payment data. PCI DSS v4.0 is the next evolution of the standard.


PCI DSS v4.0 replaces version 3.2.1 to address emerging threats and technologies and enable innovative methods to combat new threats. This version associates the protection of payment data with new controls to address sophisticated cyber attacks.
