We should have a busy weekend this weekend. A local group of old-time rock ' n' rollers as doing a free gig in the Village Square on Saturday morning and Sunday sees the annual Harcourts Cooper & Co Shore to Shore fun run with up to 5000 people desending on the finish line at the Milford Beach Reserve.

Well everyone, our growth is a little lower this month but still very good compared to other regions. Check out the reports below:

Check out these stats:

  • Growth on last year +7.8% - 4th highest of these monitored BIDS
  • This is the month last year that we started getting good growth so you can see that we are still doing well, but other BID's are doing better than the were.
  • Our growth is still above the Auckland average and  the National average
  • Look at the good growth in theses  categories
    • Apparel & Personal.             +16.0%
    • Hospitality.                                +16.9%
    • Dept Stores/Leisure             +19.2%
    • Other Consumer Spend     +16.0%
      • These are not misprints - they are REAL!
  • Our 5 Year rolling Average is 5.1% - just to clarify this figure, it means that for the last 5 years, MILFORD has averaged a 5.1% year on year. Not many centres in Auckland can beat that!
  • If you compare the Precinct Growth Graph with the January one I sent out earlier this week, you will see that most BID's are back in the positive. This shows the massive effect on Auckland region sales of the January holiday period with Aucklanders leaving the city for holiday destinations

2.           Shore to Shore Run this Sunday

The annual Harcourts Cooper & Co Shore to Shore Run is on this Sunday and we can expect up to 5000 people depending on Milford Beach Reserve between 9.00am & Midday. For those of you not familiar with it, the event encourages children from schools on the shore to get out and exercise, with lots of prizes, BBQ, etc at the end. This means that they and there families stay in the area after the event - and many will come into our town centre.

Local personality, Hillary Barry, will be there as the MC and the team from Harcourts Cooper & Co, Community Relationship Team, based here in MILFORD are organising the whole event.

SO..... expect a busier day, especially hospo businesses.

Footnote: 'Homie the Knomie', the mascot for the event (in artwork above) was stolen along with Harcourts van on Tuesday morning around 5.15am, The van is parked in Milford behind Anokha Indian Restuarant and has been for years. The van was found in Forrest Hill yesterday, with most of their gear -but....'Homie' was not. Seems someone thought they have more rights to him than the 000's of kids who expect to see him at the event. If you have any information that may be helpful in getting him returned, please call the wonderful Nikki Revell, Harcourts Cooper & Co Community Relationship Manager on 021-453-534

3.          Live music in the Village Square this Sat

Get ready for some good old rock and roll by some great local talent - part of the New Zealand music scene in years gone by.

Roger Skinner and the Motivation will play in Milford on Saturday April 6. Roger has been in the NZ music scene for many years, playing on the Let's Go, and C’mon TV shows, and winning a Silver Scroll award for his composition “Let’s Think  of Sonething” recorded by Larry's Rebels. Weather permitting, the band will perform in the open air area next to New World this Saturday 10
