Academics

For undergraduate students:

  • If you are trying to register for a credit overload, please see the Office of Academic Advising website for details.
  • As you prepare for final exams, remember that Wake Study Space is here to help you find that perfect place to study.

Graduate and professional school students:

  • We are celebrating all our graduate and professional students this week! Please see this video of appreciation for all you bring to Wake Forest University.
  • See your school/program calendar for key academic dates and action items.

News:

  • Solar Eclipse safety: On Monday, April 8, a partial solar eclipse will cross Winston-Salem. The eclipse will cover approximately 80% of the sun at its maximum at 3:13 p.m. The entire eclipse will last two and a half hours. Partial solar eclipses are different from total solar eclipses — there is no period of totality when the moon completely blocks the sun’s face. Therefore, during a partial solar eclipse, it is never safe to look directly at the eclipse without proper eye protection. Read more about safe viewing.

Upcoming Events

  • April is Asian/AAPI Heritage Month. This month is celebrated nationally in May, but like most college campuses, the Intercultural Center is observing in April due to the academic calendar. See the calendar of events.
  • April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). The Safe Office and the Office of Wellbeing are honored to be able to host a month full of events in collaboration with partners across the University. Nationally, this year's theme is "Building Connected Communities.” See the calendar of events.
  • East Asian Spring Festival, Friday, April 5, 6-8:30 p.m., Sutton C407. This is a huge festival hosted by the Japanese Studies Club and the Chinese Culture Club. This event celebrates Asian cultures with performances, games, catered food, and more with a theme of spring. Join us!
  • WFU Theatre presents Urinetown, April 6, 11-13 at 7:30 p.m. and April 7 & 14 at 2 p.m., Scales Fine Arts Center. In a Gotham-like city, a terrible water shortage and 20-year drought have led to a ban on private toilets and the domination of malevolent Urine Good Company. The poor revolt, led by brave young Bobby Strong, fighting tooth and nail for the freedom to pee “wherever you like, whenever you like, for as long as you like.” Urinetown is a wickedly funny, fast-paced, surprisingly intelligent musical satire. For tickets ($10 for students) see theatre.wfu.edu or call 336-758-5295.
  • DESK Team registration closes Wednesday, April 10, or until all spots have been filled. Grab your friends, student org or residence hall and register a team for DESK! This year’s event will be held on Thursday, April 11 from 3-6 p.m. on Upper Davis Field, with a rain date scheduled for Tuesday, April 16. You’ll be paired with an elementary school student and their family to help them paint their desk.
  • Entrepalooza, Thursday, April 11 at 4:30 p.m., Brendle Recital Hall. The Center for Entrepreneurship hosts its annual Startup Lab Demo Day, in which student groups make investor-ready pitches, followed by a keynote address by Ricky Van Veen (’03), VP of Strategic Partnerships at Meta.
  • PrezBall, Friday, April 12, 9 p.m.-1 a.m., LJVM Coliseum. “Prez Ball” (short for President’s Ball) began in 2005 as a way to to celebrate President Nathan Hatch’s inauguration and turned into a biennial tradition welcoming thousands of Wake Forest community members. The Ball moved to the spring semester in 2024 to commemorate President Susan Wente’s spring 2022 inauguration. Prez Ball brings students, faculty and staff together at The Joel for what is the largest (and most exciting) formal of the year. Prez Ball features food, beverages, (adult beverages for those over 21) music and fun. Plan to join us: Reserve your free ticket.
