NEWS AND HIGHLIGHTS

Princeton University hosted the NJ AI Summit on April 11, 2024. Many CITP faculty, executive and associated members spoke at this summit, including Director Arvind Narayanan, Professor Jonathan Mayer, Provost Jennifer Rexford and former CITP Director Ed Felten. Topics of discussion revolved around AI technologies and the societal ramifications and prospects they offer in different sectors. A video of this event will be available shortly.
Former CITP Fellow J. Nathan Matias, along with Sarah Gilbert and Floor Fiers, have a new report out published by CAT Lab titled "Sustainably Managing Risks and Threats to Independent Research on Technology and Society." CITP Clinic Lead Mihir Kshirsagar co-hosted an event with CAT Lab in 2022 on privacy and ethics challenges for independent researchers that helped inspire Matias and his team to do this research.
CITP Digital Witness Lab Lead Surya Mattu and Clinic Lead Mihir Kshirsagar presented a paper at Yale ISP’s Propaganda and Emerging Technologies Conference last week. The in-progress paper is authored by Mattu, Kshirsagar and Emerging Scholar Nitya Nadgir and is titled “WhatsApp Watch: Regulating Political Speech On Private Social Networks."
