Big Night is in two weeks!

Big Night is a wonderful chance to connect with Waters families and staff. It is also the second of the two major fundraisers we do each year that go to support a broad range of programs for our students. You can purchase tickets for the event using this link.

As a reminder, the Local School Council Election and report card pickup are coming up this Wednesday, April 10. Even if you are scheduled for a virtual conference, please come to the campus to vote between the hours of 6AM and 7PM. There IS school on Thursday, April 11 at Waters.

We need volunteers to set up for Eco Art Fest, to be held on Friday, April 26. Sign up here for a slot.

We have a big spring social event, the Wildcat Bash (formerly Springapalooza) that will be after school on Friday, May 17. This year we are highlighting Asian-American & Pacific Islander Month as well as Dia de los Niños. Come to Jimmy’s Pizza on Wednesday, April 17th at 7pm to get involved. Kids are welcome to attend with a parent- especially if they want to contribute to the AAPI month or Dia de los Niños elements of the celebrations!

GIFT FROM THE HEART

The Gift from the Heart is a special appeal on Big Night to fund a specific need at Waters.

Last year’s Gift from the Heart went to purchasing risers for performances and 175 feet of corkboard for displaying student work in the Waters main hallway. Outside of the performances, some of the risers stay in the Music Room and others serve as a flexible space for middle school students to work.

This year’s Gift from the Heart will be a return to the heart of what we do as teachers, literacy. The appeal will be focused on funding ongoing teacher development for the successful and sustained implementation of the new research-based reading curriculum that Waters will be implementing K-5th Grade next year. We plan on having the new curriculum selected by the end of May.
