Music Lyrics

Hymn: “This Pretty Planet”
This pretty planet, spinning through space.
You’re a garden, you’re a harbor, you’re a holy place.
Golden sun going down, gentle blue giant, spin us around,
All through the night, safe ‘til the morning light.

Covenant: “Love is the Spirit of this Church”
Love is the Spirit of this Church,
And service is its prayer.
This is our great covenant:
To dwell together in peace,
To seek truth in love,
And to help one another, in fellowship

Offertory: “Belonging”
The air moves in me, and I move in the air.
I am on the earth, and I am of the earth.
The purity of water flows through me
And the sun’s sacred energy gives me life.
Although I am but a fragile singularity,
A simple brushstroke upon the canvas of creation,
I have a head full of ideas and a heart full of love,
Like you.

Hymn: “Oh, Glory”
Oh, glory to the sun, as it shines upon my face.
Oh, glory to the sea, flowing through the rivers of my veins.
Oh, glory to the wind, on the breath of which I sing.
Oh, glory to the earth, and to all its living things.

Postlude: Hymn #1064 “Blue Boat Home”
Though below me, I feel no motion standing on these mountains and plains.
Far away from the rolling ocean still my dry land heart can say:
I’ve been sailing all my life now, never harbor or port have I known.
The wide universe is the ocean I travel, and the earth is my blue boat home.

Sun my sail and moon my rudder as I ply the starry sea,
leaning over the edge in wonder, casting questions into the deep.
Drifting here with my ship’s companions, all we kindred pilgrim souls,
making our way by the lights of the heavens in our beautiful blue boat home.

I give thanks to the waves upholding me, hail the great winds urging me on,
greet the infinite sea before me, sing the sky my sailor’s song:
I was born up on the fathoms, never harbor or port have I known.
The wide universe is the ocean I travel, and the earth is my blue boat home.
