WEEKLY NOTES

May 2, 2024

Greetings Saint Paul's Friends and Family,

Our “Joy, Unspeakable Joy” series is coming to a close this Sunday with a message about “Abiding Joy”; that joy which sustains us beyond any circumstance we may encounter.

Speaking of joy, the General Conference delegates joyfully rejoiced when the reversal of harmful language passed with an approval of 93%. You can read more about it by clicking on the General Conference link on our website. We hope you will join Pastor Latricia and I in our gratitude to the delegates in the Florida Conference for their hard work and dedication to making our conference a place of welcome for all people. It is our prayer that this decision will strengthen our churches to do more work in our communities that share the love of God in our midst.

Please continue to pray for those at the General Conference in the work that is still left to do.

Your pastors, Latricia and MaryAnn

This schedule is good thru Sunday, May 19th. Please see below for our Summer Sunday schedule

The 11:00 service is live-streamed on Facebook, YouTube and on our website

Church Office Volunteers Needed

Due to summer vacations and retirements, we are in need of additional substitutes and one permanent volunteer (Wednesdays, 1pm-4pm ) at our church office front desk. Our tasks are enjoyable. We answer the phone, transfer calls or take messages for the staff. We greet guests and assist the Ministers and staff as needed. Volunteer days are Monday thru Thursday and shift times are 9am-1pm or 1pm-4pm. The staff and I look forward to seeing you.  Please contact Janet Clark at 850-950-8449 or Linda Fletcher in the office at 850-385-5146

***All reservations need to be in by noon on Monday each week***

Menu Change for May 8th

Men’s Study Fellowship

All men are invited to a study fellowship, a "reading community", Tuesdays 8:30am at Ology Northside, Kerry Forest Parkway. We are now reading CASTE:  The Origin of Our Discontents by Isabel Wilkerson.

"The Pulitzer Prize-winning author examines the unspoken caste system that has shaped America and shows how our lives today are still defined by a hierarchy of human divisions."

Contact David Gill (352-223-2759) if you have any further questions.

Hello from Leslie!

Hello everyone!

Many exciting events are happening in our Children's Ministries. First, if you haven't done so already, please make sure that you have signed up your kids for VBS. We are getting close to our cut-off for some classes, and I don't want anyone to be left out. If you are interested in volunteering for VBS, whether as an adult or youth helper, please make sure you sign up for that as well. I want to ensure that everyone who participates is recognized and receives the infamous t-shirt.

Second, the sign-up for Extreme Explorers is going out. We will be taking a full week of half-day field trips around Tallahassee with the coolest rising 3rd-5th graders from June 3rd-7th. If you are interested, please sign up as soon as possible because space is extremely limited (see what I did there?).

Finally, we will be having our annual Safe Sanctuaries training for all of our volunteers on Wednesday, May 22. This is a required training for all adult and youth volunteers. Everyone needs to attend every year for updates and compliance. We will be in Sander's Hall after dinner is served (make sure to sign up for dinner if you want to eat beforehand). If you interact with the Children's or Youth ministries in any capacity, you need to attend.

I hope to see you soon at church!

Blessings,

Leslie Scott
