For undergraduate, graduate, and professional school students:
Here’s what WFU should know this week.

Thursday, April 25, 2024

Spring is the time for beautiful sunsets at Wake Forest.

Academics

  • The Thank a Teacher program gives students an opportunity to thank faculty and staff who have made a difference in their education. You fill out a short online form and the Center for the Advancement of Teaching forwards your message to recipients at the end of the semester. These messages mean a lot to the recipients. Submit yours by May 10.

Undergraduate students:

  • Pre-Law Summer Program: Looking for a summer opportunity? Wake Forest Law’s Undergraduate Pre-Law Program is the perfect fit. Over the course of the five-week program, students will gain a better understanding of the law, learn what it takes to be a lawyer, and get a glimpse into life as a law student. Learn more at our website.

Graduate and professional school students:

  • Please see your school or program calendar for key academic dates and action items.

News

  • From Wente's Desk: Making time for moments of connection
Over my many years as a leader, I have learned that creating intentional time for connection with the university’s most important asset — its people — is absolutely critical to leading well. No university leader can be successful (in my opinion) without regular, direct and open opportunities to hear from faculty, staff, and students. Read my latest blog post to find inspiration for creating your own connections.
  • The next milestone for Workday Student is moving student financials into the new system, including billing, financial aid disbursements and more. All students are invited (and highly encouraged!) to attend a virtual demonstration on May 1 or June 12. Register and add the event to your calendar at this link. Training materials will also soon be available online.
  • Wake Forest commits to 100% renewable energy. Wake Forest and eight other colleges and universities in North Carolina and Pennsylvania are joining forces to bring a large-scale solar facility online in western Kentucky. By collaborating on this Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), Wake Forest will be purchasing an amount of energy equal to 100% of the current electricity used on campus for 20 years.
  • Wake Forest will host a memorial service for Dr. Edwin Graves Wilson on Friday, May 3 in Wait Chapel at 11 a.m. We anticipate an increase in vehicular and foot traffic on campus, particularly around Wait Chapel and Hearn Plaza, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
