Board Of Deputies renews calls for IRGC to be proscribed in wake of Israel missile attack

Following the Iranian regime’s attack on Israel last weekend, Board of Deputies President Marie van der Zyl has written to Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, thanking him for the UK’s role in countering the drones and missiles and urging the Government to proscribe the IRGC as a terrorist organisation.

Seder seat for a hostage

This Pesach, we are urging individuals and families to set an extra place at their seder table for one of the more than 100 men, women, and children still held hostage by Hamas.

Board of Deputies President Marie van der Zyl, Chief Executive Michael Wegier, and Religious and Civil Affairs Officer Victoria Lisek hosted an Interfaith Seder for British faith leaders. Representatives of Muslim, Anglican, Hindu, Catholic, Methodist and pluralist communities participated in an evening of learning and celebration of Pesach.

David Mendoza Wolfson attended a diplomatic seder hosted by the Commonwealth Jewish Council.

Hostages
International and Parliamentary Affairs Officer David Robinson attended the Hostage Families Forum seder table installation and ceremony opposite Downing Street.

Employment
Vice President Amanda Bowman and Religious and Civil Affairs Officer Victoria Lisek hosted a meeting for the conveners of Jewish Staff Networks, providing an opportunity for them to share their experiences over the last few months and to set some priorities for working together going forward. Most of those present felt that they were getting the support they needed from their employers despite an increase in antisemitic incidents.

Policing
Vice President Amanda Bowman joined the Metropolitan Police Jewish Community Forum that discussed issues including the PSC protests and policing, security arrangements around Pesach and an update on Hate Crime policing.
