Dear <<First Name>>,

This week, Premier David Eby, my colleagues and I had a wonderful time celebrating Vaisakhi in Vancouver!

I love taking part in Vaisakhi with the Sikh community, connecting with many folks and trying out the delicious food for everyone to savour. It is always incredible to see so many people unite together to celebrate the spring harvest and the birth of the Khalsa.

Special thanks to the volunteers and organizers that made the Vancouver Vaisakhi possible. I wish everyone celebrating a Happy Vaisakhi!
I also joined City of Maple Ridge Mayor Dan Ruimy with MLA’s Bob D'Eith, Maple Ridge-Mission and Lisa Beare to announce the Abernethy Way Corridor Expansion Project.

This project is supported by $3.5 million of the Growing Communities Fund they received last year.
With the Abernethy Way Corridor Expansion, Maple Ridge is connecting communities, unlocking access to crucial housing and industry projects, and improving life for everyone living here and travelling through this corridor.

My Ministry is honoured to support Maple Ridge, one of the fastest-growing cities in the Lower Mainland.
Here are some things I'd like to share with you from the past week:

B.C. takes action to improve literacy for student

Starting school can bring some significant challenges for students who struggle to read or write.

Students needs to develop strong literacy skills in their first few years at school.

That’s why we’re removing barriers and providing the support students need so they can reach their full potential.

Supports increased for people with complex care needs

People dealing with serious mental-health, addiction and housing challenges are often left behind.

Their complex needs can lead to a cycle of evictions, stays in shelters and repeated visits to emergency rooms.

That’s why we’re supporting more complex-care housing, so more people can get the coordinated care they need right in their own homes.

B.C. plants its 10-billionth tree

Throughout the province, people are seeing the impacts of climate change on our forests.

That’s why we’re accelerating tree planting and building on decades of work restoring our forests that provide clean air, recreation, local jobs and more.

Ten billion seedlings planted is a remarkable achievement in making sure our forests are with us for generations to come.

More buses, better service coming to Metro Vancouver

We’re working with TransLink to solve the region’s most pressing transportation challenges in response to the unprecedented regional growth.

Funding public transit means people can choose cleaner and more affordable ways to travel in the region now and for years to come.

With this funding, people will experience fewer instances of overcrowded buses passing them by and benefit from additional service increases in the long-term.
