“All things seem possible in May”

What a relief this spring is!

Watching the world come back to life vibrantly and noisily has been just a joy. The return of the Tuesday/Friday market brings so much joy, not that the Saturday market isn’t great, but is an incredible privilege to have almost daily access to fresh local food.

Speaking of access to food, Mid Coast Hunger Prevention is having an event- a benefit auction

“Plates of Plenty”

June 20 @ Maine Maritime Museum

Get ready for real NIGHT OUT, remember those?. We’re talkin’ live music, a live auction with a terrific auctioneer, Jackass Annie  running the bar, and lots of fantastic food !

Maine Coast Fisherman’s Association has donated their new smoked pollack dip, (seriously get some and put it on one of Knead & Nosh’s bagel with a few Olivia’s Garden cucumbers), Jeff of Knead & Nosh. Jeff is making his  amazing dumplings ( he teaches dumpling classes BTW), Bella of Sanctuary Baking, another incredible non-profit working to feed our community will be creating a tempting table of tapas, Solo Pane has donated bread, Cakes by Design will be providing dessert bites ( so cute—stop in and check them out!) and also umm… oh yeah, ME.. I’ll be passing around some (yet to be decided upon) fancy pants hors d'oeuvres.

The auction items are rolling in, there’s jewelry, sporting goods, local beer baskets, gift certificates to local restaurants and other businesses and a ton of experiences including a dinner catered by…ME!

All it all it’s going to be a very special night to be out and about with our community and if you would like to be a bigger part of it , besides buying tickets — we are looking for

CORPORATE SPONSORS— Let the MCHPP community know all about your small business by becoming a sponsor, info here

DONATE AN AUCTION ITEM: Have a vacation home you are willing to lend for a weekend? Do you have a boat you charter? Are you an expert gardener willing to donate your expertise. Are you a landscaper (or do you know one)? We are looking for spa days, massages, fishing tours, car detailing…all that fun stuff.

There will be a silent auction as well… if you can’t make the live event, you can still bid on any of the available items. CLICK HERE to REGISTER

Balaboosta News…

We are getting pretty booked up this summer and Meal Service is on hold until we can work out a few kitchen logistics

Have you considered getting a group together for a private chef dinner?? We make it easy to host by creating a Supper Club experience tailored to your group and their preferences. We craft a menu just for you send it to the group and manage it from there (including individual payments if you prefer), they show up and put in the show.

Willie & Chet’s sandwiches are now available at Morning Glory, it was a bit of a rough start ( the difference between “live” sandwich and a wrapped one is huge!), but we are there almost every day and have some really good ones… such as Turkey & Muenster Cheese…this was my bag lunch most days in elementary school, I jazz it up with my own honey mustard, and then there’s what I call 70’s Almond Mom Sammies like Cheddar & Apple with mustard butter or Cheese & Veggies… packed with grated carrots, sprouts, tomato, cucumber or Avocado & Hummus. Oh yeah and Egg Salad & Candied Bacon, Roast Ham & Smoked Gouda with Apricot Mustard & Cornichons , Turkey, Provolone & Pesto, Tandoori Chicken Salad, and this Tuna Salad recipe that my friend Lucia I used to get at the deli near her family’s summer place on the North Shore of Long Island and we still adore 35 years later.

Let me know your favorite and who knows maybe it’ll show up.
