Warm days, and a hot time!
The best part of springtime has arrived... and along with the sunny and warm days comes the hottest party of the year in Sandpoint – namely the annual Lost in the 50s weekend. It's the 37th annual staging of this fabulous car show that brings hundreds of classic cars from around the Northwest to town. It all kicks off on Friday, May 17, with the car parade through town, followed on Saturday, May 18, with the cars on display on the closed streets throughout the downtowns. There's a street dance plus a pair of stellar '50s concerts with renowned band Gary Lewis and the Playboys on Friday, then legendary vocalists Peter Rivera and Mitch Ryder on Saturday. It's Sandpoint's biggest party of the year! If you book quick, you might just find a room; start your quest in the Visit Sandpoint lodging guide. Get more details on the event, at the Lost in the 50s website.
Up in our mountains, the season for hikers and mountain bikers is blooming. Glorious displays of wildflowers are beginning to festoon the lower elevation hiking trails. If MTB is how you roll, the trail systems at Pine Street Woods and Schweitzer are in terrific shape. All around town are music, art and events galore. Spring's here, and it's fine!

Growing season arrives
Popular Farmers Market kicks off
Early on, it's a cornucopia of flowers and garden starts. As the growing season extends, vegetables, berries and fruits make their appearance. And every week there are heaps of bakery goods and prepared foods from a variety of vendors, plus fine craft goods and free live music. Sandpoint's Farmer Market occurs every Saturday from May 4 through October 12 at Farmin Park downtown, and it's a thriving and bustling community affair as local growers and craftspeople vend their wares directly to the customers. If you're visiting mid week, there's also a Wednesday market.
