Last chance to RSVP for academic processions and regalia rental
Members of Governing Council, faculty and staff must RSVP online by May 17 to participate in the academic processions for the Spring 2024 Convocation ceremoniesJune 3-21. A regalia rental service will be available until May 16, to be collected on the day of the ceremony from the Gerstein Science Information Centre (9 King’s College Circle). For more information, visit the Office of Convocation website at governingcouncil.utoronto.ca/convocation, click on the Governors, Faculty and Staff menu item or contact 416-978-3629.
Party with Pride on June 7
All are welcome at the Sexual and Gender Diversity Office's U of T Community Pride event at Hart House on June 7, starting at 4:30 p.m. Formerly known as U of T Pride Pub, the event is all ages and free until 8 p.m., then $7 and 17+. Learn more 
Mentors and mentees wanted
The Centre for Learning, Leadership & Culture (LLC) is seeking mentors and mentees for the next cohort of its group mentoring program. The program starts in July, with registration closing June 24.
Working in groups of approximately six people, mentees learn from each other as well as the mentor. Mentees also get dedicated individual time with mentors. The program explores elements of career development from identifying aspirations to building a network and holding informational interviews. Commitment is one hour and 15 minutes once a month for six months, with additional time for reflection outside the group meetings. Sessions are scheduled based on the calendars of all those in the group. Fill out the registration form and email it with your resume and manager's signature to llc@utoronto.ca.
Help find UTM's new chief librarian
Dany Savard’s appointment as interim chief librarian at the University of Toronto Mississauga ends on Sept. 30. The committee to fill this position, chaired by U of T chief librarian Larry Alford and acting UTM vice-president and principal Ian Orchard, needs to fill the following roles on the search team:  
  • one member of the teaching staff from UTM 
  • one Associate University Librarian
  • one Library Department Head
  • four librarians, at least three of whom will have permanent status positions in U of T Libraries
  • three individuals who are not librarians.
Nominations to serve on the committee, including self-nominations, should be sent to lesley.falkner@utoronto.ca by May 21, with "UTM Chief Librarian Consultative Committee Nomination" in the subject line, specifying the membership category as listed above. Read more
U of T Toastmasters meets every second Wednesday
SALUT is the Toastmasters Club for full-time staff appointed U of T employees. They meet every second Wednesday, 1-2 p.m over MS Teams, to work on becoming confident and skilled presenters, grow leadership skills and connect with colleagues across the tri-campuses. Crane to temporarily close Outer Circle near P4
On Thursday, May 16, a new concrete panel will be installed by crane at the P4 Deck Lower Level entrance. 
Part of Outer Circle from the Collegeway to the P4 Deck entrance will be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic during the crane delivery and set up, 7 to 9:30 a.m. Use the North or Middle entrances. Activity will run until 5 p.m. 
Campus Safety, Facilities and the contractor’s staff will be on site during the crane set up to help redirect traffic. For questions, contact Facilities Management & Planning project manager Daniela DiBrigida at daniela.dibrigida@utoronto.ca  at 905-302-0658.  
City work to reduce lanes on Dundas all summer
During the summer, City of Mississauga will be doing road work near campus on Dundas Street West which may impact the commute to the UTM campus. 
Sidewalk replacement and new retaining walls will be added at two locations on the north side of Dundas Street West, between Erindale Park entrance and the Credit River and between Robinson Street and Dundas Crescent.
The work is expected to take one year, and the City will maintain two westbound lanes and two eastbound lanes on Dundas Street West during construction. For project information, contact 905-330-2913 or capital.fieldambassador@mississauga.ca.
