What a GREAT day!

Greetings, friends of Ewalu:

The Great Give Day is done, and we are humbled by your support! In just one day yesterday, we raised a total of $70,628 for the “Cedar at 60” project! That includes $36,128 donated online with 140 donors, which put us at the top of the final Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque’s leaderboard for most donors AND dollars raised among 212 non-profits in a seven-county region. Wow!

Friends of Ewalu offered generous support with several challenges that kept everyone following along all day. An anonymous donor matched every donation dollar-for-dollar until we reached our $30,000 goal, and then Elle & Harry Blobaum chipped in a $1,000 challenge to stretch us to a new goal.

We also had challenges from Decorah Lutheran Youth, who gave $1,000 when we got donors from 15 states or countries, and another anonymous donor challenged us with $1,000 to get 50 donors during Power Hour. To encourage our staff alumni to donate, summer alumni Meredith and Nathan Zietlow dedicated their $1,000 gift to the decade with the most staff alumni donors. Look below to see who won!

Thank you for contributing to another fantastic Great Give Day! Adding in the totals from this one day, we have now raised over $1.8 million of our $2 million Cedar at 60 Campaign goal. I am excited to say that this means we have passed the benchmark for construction set by Ewalu’s Board of Directors. Right now, we are eagerly working on plans and bids as we look forward to making the Cedar renovation a reality in 2025! You can learn more about all the plans for Cedar Lodge at this link. This is exciting news for the ministry at Ewalu!

Thanks be to God!

We couldn’t do it without you.

With gratitude,

Frank Johnson, executive director

Ewalu staff members Steph Boeding and Emily Tull had a great time at the Ewalu booth in downtown Dubuque with their camp-themed display. They met several folks, handed out summer brochures to families, and talked about the Cedar Lodge project. Photos of the Ewalu tent-booth are featured in a news article from the Dubuque Telegraph-Herald, and Emily and Ewalu staff alum Miranda (Fober) Hoey are part of a video from the Telegraph-Herald! We ended Great Give Day as #1 in unique donors and #1 in dollars raised among all participating 212 nonprofit organizations in a seven-county area, all thanks to YOU! Amazing!

Donors who served on staff during the 2010s, you came out strong for Great Give Day and won our “Battle of the Decades”! You’ll be getting the green “Ewalu Alumni” stickers in the mail with your gift receipt. Thanks for being a part of the big day!
