HOT LIT!
curated by scott alexander hess novelist/teacher/queer new yorker

I had the pleasure of interviewing Ghislain Pascal at Rizzoli bookstore in 2023 celebrating volume 5 of his BOYS! BOYS! BOYS! - The Magazine.

I was thrilled to learn from Chislain about the new AdeY exhibition (Image above) UNCENSORED at NYC's Clamp Gallery. It's the final stop in artist AdeY’s Uncensored World Tour which has included stops in London (The Little Black Gallery, Ghislain is the Co-Founder & Director) and also Los Angeles (Galerie XII), Stockholm (Fotografiska), and Falsterbo, Sweden (Falsterbo Photo Art Museum). The NY exhibit runs May 16 – May 25, with an opening reception: Thursday, May 16, 6 – 8 PM. Clamp Gallery, 247 W. 29th ST. NYC.

Fun Fact: AdeY’s identity is unknown, but the photographs speak for themselves. The art is in the borderland of photography and performance and depicts the naked body in playful formations and in minimalistic rooms and empty landscapes.

I ran across this photo on Insta and HAD to know more!

It ends up this is a frisky fantastic show, Nocturnal Omissions with John Coons & Jonah Wheeler playing at NYC Green Room 42 on May 22. Get over there!

Described as: From the glitter-drenched minds that brought you BLEAK! comes a new, somehow even queerer thrill ride through the melodically erotic and joyously frivolous! Join songwriter JOHN COONS and adult performer JONAH WHEELER for an evening of unhinged mashups, X-rated originals, and glorious looks. Nocturnal Omissions: for all you creatures that do a bump in the night.
I am a "method" writer so I always spend time in a locale if I'm going to write about it.

Which brings me to my new fiction in progress, set in rural Missouri. This July, in full research mode, I will be popping into the Boone County Fair and the Demolition Derby. I came across these fab hats and gear from Lockwood51 which also got me in a country queer mood!

And YES, I bought that hat! Check out eveything from swimsuits to shirts and hats. And see you at the Derby?
Continuing the country theme I adore this beautiful Western art from artist Anthony Hurd @anhurdgallery.

Check out the limited edition prints and gorgeous gay Dreaming Paintings.

Hot Lit Finale!

My hubby and I saw the wondrous new Broadway production of The Outsiders which I adored!

The rain-soaked rumble scene features some of the best choreography, lightning and sound design I have EVER seen on Broadway. And the voices in the show truly soar! I love the art of John Knaus (above) featuring the cast.

And finally RUN to see the amazing Jinkx Monsoon as Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors through May 26. I caught her singing "Somewhere That's Green" on Insta and I'm STILL weeping. So good!
