Maine Housing Announces $30 Million of Funding Awards
MAHC appreciates Governor Mills and the bipartisan support of legislators to build affordable homes for all Maine people. In the last two years, MAHC has introduced and successfully advocated for $100 million in state funding for building affordable housing.



Transit Oriented Housing Development Funding - due 7/22
Pilot Program for Transit-Oriented Development. This is the third year of this program, which seeks to fund agencies planning housing development near transit options. This year, they’re prioritizing (1) areas with lower population densities, and (2) developing affordable housing. Program:   Pilot Program for Transit-Oriented Development; Funding Available: $10.5m total (last year, 20 awards were funded); Description: DOT is seeking to “support local planning and investment near transit hubs to promote sustainable, livable, and equitable communities, with a focus on projects that plan for affordable housing” NOFO Link  

 


NLIHC and Pew Charitable Trusts new research, Homeowners, Renters, and Households of All Incomes Back Housing Reforms, is based on a national survey. The findings show the majority support among households with low, moderate, and high incomes and among homeowners and renters for state and local policies that would enable more homes of various types to be built. There is broad agreement that housing affordability is the most compelling reason to allow more homebuilding. Read More
