Welk Homestead State Historic Site celebrates ‘Life on the Homestead’ June 1
STRASBURG, N.D. – Welk Homestead State Historic Site staff invite the public to “Life on the Homestead,” a full day of family friendly activities, Saturday, June 1, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The event is free, and children must be accompanied by an adult.
The day kicks off with local Tractor Trek participants arriving at the Welk Homestead at 10 a.m. Take in the tractor show until 1 p.m.
From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., learn how to make sauerkraut, butter, and rope. See demonstrations on weaving, spinning, and blacksmithing. Watch how a printing press works. Visit the craft and vendor show featuring area crafters. Participate in gunny sack races, bunnock, horseshoes, and money in the haystack.
The day concludes with a musical performance by Joyful Voices at 3 p.m. Enjoy kuchen samples during intermission.
The Welk Homestead, located at 845 88th St. SE, Strasburg, is a state historic site managed by the State Historical Society of North Dakota.
