Obviously, water is a big deal in the Lake Tahoe Basin, and there are many ways to enjoy it! If you have your own kayak or paddle board, there are lots of places to put in, but there’s an inspection process required to keep invasive species out of these pristine lakes. Most of the lakes have a similar process, but if you’d like to skip this step, consider renting from one of the many businesses on the lake. There are many small group Lake Tahoe tours available as well. Gather a few friends and schedule an unforgettable tour! It’s worth doing your own research, but we hope these links will get you started. Click on the links below to find out more! |

There’s a hike for everyone in the Lake Tahoe Basin. Right next to our campsite is a network of hiking trails through the meadow with access to the Upper Truckee River, but if you’re willing to adventure, there are many more options close by. The AllTrails app is a great way to find the hike for you; hikes are rated by difficulty and you can find user reviews, maps, photos and more. |

Golf is popular in Lake Tahoe, and there are a lot of places you can do it. No matter which course you choose, you can enjoy the view while you hit the links. In addition to world class golf courses, Lake Tahoe has a number of mini golf courses to enjoy! |

Are you a history buff? Tahoe’s unique history can be enjoyed in many ways. One of the best sites is only about 5 miles from the rally site. The area around Camp Richardson is home to many historic buildings and a beautiful walking path right along the lake’s edge through the forest. This area is also easily reached by bicycle on Lake Tahoe’s impressive network of bike paths. Listed below are several historic homes you can tour and other historic points of interest. Special note: Vikingsholm is totally worth checking out, but getting there is tricky. You can either take a 1 mile (each way) steep hike on a gravel road, a 2.5 mile (each way) more moderately steep hike or arrive by boat. Check their websites for tour information. |

Lake Tahoe is a beautiful place to explore by bicycle. There is an extensive network of bike paths, bike lanes and bike routes. If you don’t have your own bike, there are lots of places to rent them around the lake. In addition to traditional bikes you can rent surreys and E-bikes. |

The distance around Lake Tahoe is 72 miles. This drive takes about 2.5-3 hours, and will take you to many different views of the lake. There are many small towns located all around the lake, each with their own personality. |

South Lake Tahoe is home to a thriving beer/ brewery scene. Check the link below to check out several local options. |

While the campground does have a pickleball court on site, sadly it is closed this season for repairs. There are other courts nearby, see links below. We’ll have an informal sign-up sheet in the tent to help members get together to play. |

There are two stables within a short distance of the rally site. Both have a variety of experiences you can enjoy from two different parts of the lake. |

Measuring over 6100 feet at lake level, you can get a Birds Eye view of the Tahoe basin from two different areas on the lake. These gondola rides are not inexpensive, but it’s a way to see the lake from a few thousand feet higher. |

If you are here for extended time beyond the region rally, here are some more things to do: Visit the Carson Valley. A short drive over the Kingsbury Grade on the East shore of the lake will take you over Dagget Pass (7400 ft) to the beautiful Carson Valley. The historic town of Genoa is close to the base of the Kingsbury grade and is the home of Nevada’s oldest bar! Near Genoa you can find Walley’s Hot Springs Resort. Carson City is a short drive to the North, where you can view the Nevada Capitol building and visit the Nevada State Museum. Past Carson City is Virginia City, a historic silver mining town located in the mountains of Story County, NV at 6100 ft elevation. There’s a historic railroad here too that you can ride. Truckee is a charming town, North of Lake Tahoe and known for restaurants and shopping. Hope Valley is a well known leaf peeping area just South of Lake Tahoe with many lakes and mountain peaks. It might be a little bit early to see the fall color, but it’s a lovely drive.

In addition to the many, many choices listed above, our rally site is close to various kinds of shopping, dining and also gaming casinos. Most of the nearby casinos also have headline entertainment! The Tahoe Basin is home to a number of different breweries and brew pubs and many casual dining options. Most eateries with patios are dog friendly! |
