Snetterton 300

BRSCC Dunlop Mini Challenge

May 2024 - Out in the Mig
The previous race awarded us a DNF due to a simple broken wire on the water pump. after repairing this and Swifty doing a top notch job replacing the valve guides in the paddock our leak down test showed the engine was perfect and ready to attack Snetterton !
Friday - Testing
Not having driven the Snetterton 300 track for some time Nick was grateful for the Friday testing session to re-acquaint himself with the track. Super technical and a few of 1st gear corners this track definitely puts both driver and car to the test ! Couple this with a pretty hot day, Nick left the car dripping !
Testing proved to be well worth while. We had a bad idling issue which could just not be tracked down, then after testing we found a bracket on the throttle stop was bent. It transpired that with two FIA return springs on the throttle cable the lever snapped back so hard it bent the bracket and not only caused a bad idle but more importantly we were not getting full throttle ! A couple of little mods later and we had a perfect idle and full throttle
Tyres came out and we found one of our brand new unused Dunlops had a hole in it, not a great start but that was the only drama we had with the car, on track Nick had to avoid a flying bootlid allowing the car behind to collect this for the owner. Qualifying in 12th,  and after a very clean and close race with Mark Sims and Elliot Stafford Nick had climbed upto 8th by the end of the race.
With race one out of the way, Steve went over the car checking everything ready for race two while Nick put the kettle on
Race two. The Miglia's now start this race in order of lap times unlike previous races so we started 15th on the grid. Nick got a good start, our Swiftune engine pulls so well its then a battle into the first corner. Nick had a superb race, enjoying clean respectful racing and narrowly avoiding a sideswipe from Martin, who's brakes went at a very bad moment on the track, Nick was braking down from 114mph to 86mph as Martin's car slides past with the back wheels locked !  Luckily, he brought the car to a standstill on the infield missing everyone. By the end of the race Nick finished in 9th.
Another great weekend with our Miglia doing exactly what it says on the tin ! Swiftune's engine and box providing faultless power  all weekend, car setup by Bill and Steve superb
