Behind the Scenes of the Winning Screenplay, Glampire
Jordan Lucas and Winda Benedetti share a decade-long friendship and creative collaboration. Their journey began at PopCap Games in downtown Seattle, where Jordan served as an art director and Winda as a narrative designer. Together, they crafted whimsical characters and captivating stories for games like “Plants vs Zombies: Heroes” and “Solitaire Blitz.”
Their synergy extended beyond video games. Collaborating on short-form comic stories for the annual anthology Monsterpedia, they explored darker themes while infusing moments of whimsy and humor. The roots of Glampire trace back to a short comic called “Revamped,” originally published in the 2018 issue of Monsterpedia.
Jordan Lucas
Jordan’s artistic life has always been about one thing: telling stories. Jordan has been a visual storyteller since the day he could pick up a pencil. Despite getting in trouble for drawing on his math homework, he never stopped. This pastime eventually led to a career in the arts.
He got his start as a professional animator and concept artist working in the video game industry. A few of his standout projects are the “Sly Cooper” series, “Plants vs Zombies,” and “Bejeweled.” Accompanying that, he’s helped create art for tabletop games, namely “Dungeon Craft” and “Build Your Own Adventure” games.
Throughout his 30s, Jordan authored a comic book series titled “Hominids.” Jordan has also been an adjunct teacher, and most recently worked as a storyboard artist on the animated Disney series “Pupstruction.” When Jordan isn’t at work, he loves running on the beach, hitting up the PT Farmers Market, and can be found at Uptown Pub from time to time. Winda Benedetti
Winda Benedetti is a mother of two and an avid traveler. She’s been a professional writer of one sort or another her entire adult life. Winda got her start as a newspaper crime reporter, spent time as a rock music critic, moved on to work for several national news sites covering video games and technology, then veered into screenwriting before arriving at her current career as a video game writer, narrative designer, and voice lead.
Winda has spent the last six years working at Nintendo, where she’s written for best-selling games such as “Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom,” and “Animal Crossing: New Horizons.” At the end of the day, she loves all forms of storytelling and feels especially fortunate to have found such a multi-talented and inspiring creative partner in Jordan.
Congratulations to Jordan Lucas and Winda Benedetti on their excellent achievement!
