This includes introducing an accommodation allowance of $200 per night for those fleeing from wildfires, having interact e-transfer direct deposit payment options for people who need help securing accommodation during large-scale evacuations, and updating the EmergencyInfoBC website to improve user experience.

Fair pay, basic protections coming for gig workers
We’ve finalized regulations to provide fairness, minimum-wage measures and basic protections for app-based ride-hailing and delivery workers in British Columbia.
All companies should be providing basic fairness like minimum wage for their workers, and everyone working hard to support their families should have basic protections.
These regulations include things like a minimum wage for engaged time, a minimum per-kilometre vehicle allowance, covering workers through WorkSafeBC, making sure workers are shown the location and estimated pay associated with a job before workers accept it, fair “deactivations” and suspensions, and making sure 100% of the tip goes to the worker.

Growth in Burnaby powered by clean, affordable electricity
BC Hydro will construct more than $1.25 billion in capital projects throughout Burnaby over the next decade to upgrade and expand the electricity grid, and provide clean power for homes and businesses in growing communities.
In Burnaby and communities across B.C., these construction projects will create thousands of good jobs over the next decade and ensure that people have access to clean, affordable and reliable electricity.
These new construction projects are forecast to support 10,500 to 12,500 jobs on average annually, and will increase and maintain BC Hydro’s capital investments as major projects such as the Site C hydroelectric dam are completed.
