Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center presents one-act opera, ‘Death of Meriwether Lewis: Transfiguration at Grinder’s Stand’ 

WASHBURN – The public is invited to “Death of Meriwether Lewis: Transfiguration at Grinder’s Stand,” a new one-act opera at Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center, Washburn, Saturday, June 15, 3 p.m.  The program is free and open to the public. Complimentary refreshments will be available. 

The opera explores the last days of Meriwether Lewis’ life in Tennessee. His life had been a combination of great opportunities and some failures that seemed to dominate his thoughts. Cast members are Artistic Director of Dakota Pro Musica Jason Thoms, New York City performing artist Kristopher Jean, and North Dakota State University Assistant Professor of Voice Karisa Templeton accompanied by a chamber ensemble from the Missouri Valley Chamber Orchestra. 

The performance is co-sponsored by the State Historical Society of North Dakota and the Northern Plains Heritage Foundation. 

The Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center and Fort Mandan State Historic Site are managed by the State Historical Society.
