      • Please join us in practice of creating the workshop website! This session is a space for anyone interested in practising creating a workshop website independently and who would like to have support and feedback in real-time. All are welcome! This is also a great opportunity for experienced Instructors to join and assist with answering questions, giving helpful hints, and guidance.

Community Opportunity Postings

  • The University of California (UC) Davis Library is seeking to recruit a Community Manager to support the work of the UC Open Source Program Office (OSPO) Network. This career position ends 18 months from the date of hire with possible extension or becoming indefinite. Applications close on 26 July 2024.

  • The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Library seeks a Data Scientist (Bioinformatics) to specialise in services like bibliometrics, research data services, and bioinformatics services in support of NIH intramural research, and to develop new services to further open science and data sharing at NIH. Applications must be submitted by 11:59 PM Eastern Time (ET) on 02 August 2024.

  • Development Seed is seeking a software engineer to fill the position of a Geospatial Services Engineer to develop geospatial data services and advance open-source geospatial technologies. The position is remote but must be located in a European Space Agency (ESA) Member State. The first review of applications started on 15 July 2024. Presumably open until filled.

  • The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation is seeking a Program Officer to join their Curiosity-Driven Science Initiative. The candidate must be an accomplished professional with knowledge of informal science learning expertise in the design of learning experiences or public programming for youth, a passion for science, and an interest in advancing philanthropic programs that seek to connect youth and communities with science in deep and compelling ways. Presumably open until filled.

  • Microsoft Research Africa, Nairobi is looking for a full-time Senior NLP/ML Researcher to join their team. The ideal candidate will have deep ML/NLP/Generative AI research experience, a proven track record of research leadership, experience or interest in working with a multidisciplinary team and a dedication to impact in Africa. Applications are presumably open until filled.

  • The University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) Library, seeks an innovative, strategic, forward-thinking professional to serve as the Open Science, Research & Engagement Librarian in STEM. Reporting to the Director, Research & Engagement, the successful candidate will be a member of the Research & Engagement department and part of the Subject Librarian Program, providing research and instructional support to all academic departments on campus. Applications will continue to be accepted until 18 October 2024, but those received after the review date of 11 July 2024 will only be considered if the position has not yet been filled.
